New season for CF65 GPL league
[20-09-2005 | IS | Comments (0) ]
The CF65 Tuesday night league has now wrapped up its summer season and its time to look towards a new Fall 2005 Calendar. This is a very fun league with courteous drivers and good solid competition. There is an overall mix of driver levels in this league so all are welcome. This league runs the GPL 65FD mod which is easily available through GEM+. For those not in the know, the 65FD mod cars have 6 gears and feel similar to a GPL 65F1 BT7 with a slightly lower top end that keeps the racing close and enjoyable.

For more information, or if you would like to join the CF65 league when their regular season begins, visit the CF65 league website.

NEW HSRL GMT GPL65
[02-04-2005 | DH | Comments (0) ]
The High Speed Racing League's new Tuesday 10.00pm GMT GPL65 league is recruiting now for an April 5th start! The LEGENDS of '65 MOD is a superb trainer for your driving skills, and terrific fun. This modification for Grand Prix Legends (and the GPL2004demo) combines a responsive, highly progressive handling chassis with a great many of the worlds best and sometimes most notorious circuits. Contrary to popular misconception, GPL65 is in fact easier to just jump in and drive than Trans Am, GTP, GTR and of course GPL. We are looking for discerning online racers who value the opportunity to be competitive and to improve their technique.

Thunder Cars Mod for GPL Released
[30-03-2005 | IS | Comments (13) ]
Thunder Cars mod for GPL is an open wheeled series with early 70's feel. All cars use a 426cu V8, slick tyres and wings.

This is not a representation of F1, we see the mod as a fictional early "CART" type series as these cars work well at ovals and road tracks alike.
Although never built we have tried to keep the spec of the cars realistic for the period so they could have been built if someone was mad enough.

Compared to gpl67 you have a BIG HEAVY car here so the tracks will suddenly seem alot narrower and shorter, but the superb physics will allow you to combat this...

SimHQ Review: GPL 2004
[21-01-2005 | DH | Comments (13) ]
SimHQ Review: Jens Lindblad and Alex Keep review Grand Prix Legends 2004. Whether you are a traditional racing simmer or a flight simmer wanting to try his or her hand at the sport of race driving. No other sim gives you the hair-raising thrill of drifting and powersliding at some of the worlds most famous race circuits. New carsets and alterations have arisen from the desire to make the original GPL as good as possible, realizing the original releases limitations and overcoming them, making the game amongst the very best simulators ever created. GPL can be bought for 5. All the downloads are free and there is a huge amount of support available on the web.
So, what are you waiting for?"

Thunder Cars BETA Mod Released for GPL
[27-12-2004 | IS | Comments (5) ]
Thunder Cars is a fictional One Make Challenge series for Grand Prix Legends. All of the cars have exactly the same chassis, engine and tyres. There is no difference between the cars other than the livery. With a fairly small frontal area, and over 600bhp on tap at the rear wheels you should be seeing somewhere in the region of 230mph from these cars. They have healthy amounts of torque, and yet in true oval-style still rev quite freely. They are primarily intended for oval racing, although they have proved to be stunningly good fun on road courses, ideally suited to the likes of Spa and Le Mans for example, yet also give great racing on wider short courses such as Lime Rock.

1 Million Downloads of GPL Addon Tracks
[02-11-2004 | JZ | Comments (5) ]
Magnus Thom: "I wonder.... How big percentage of you actually download a track if you're at the GPL Track Database and decide to click on the "Get track" button to go to the official download site? Not everyone I guess but if you do click on the button I guess most of you are pretty sure you want to try the track out? Then again there are quite a few track downloads that don't originate from that "Get track" button

If you host a GPL addon track and know the number of downloads, what is the proportion between your download figures and the number of clicks for your track at the database?

Anyway, the counter counting everytime you click on that button is just about to wrap around from 999 thousand to 1 million! And following the thoughts above, this surely means 1 million track downloads!! Quite mind boggling when you think about it."
