SimHQ Review: Jens Lindblad and Alex Keep review Grand Prix Legends 2004. Whether you are a traditional racing simmer or a flight simmer wanting to try his or her hand at the sport of race driving. No other sim gives you the hair-raising thrill of drifting and powersliding at some of the worlds most famous race circuits. New carsets and alterations have arisen from the desire to make the original GPL as good as possible, realizing the original releases limitations and overcoming them, making the game amongst the very best simulators ever created. GPL can be bought for 5. All the downloads are free and there is a huge amount of support available on the web.
So, what are you waiting for?"

You have to be joking right?
F1C graphics better than the updated GPL? I have a very high end system and even with that F1C looks artificially coloured, showroom clean [read unrealistic] and angular.
F1C also looks much better in screens than it does driving. Nowhere near as smooth and natural looking as GPL
Cheers
Jim

Hi Jim!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
In my eyes GPL is the best looking of all simulations (perhaps only just surpassed by the GTP mod), and personally I prefer the Papy Gfx over anything else.
Alex has another view, as do others. Both views are equally valid. |

P.S.
Did you read the full article or did you just read the news-blurb? |

I had the same question Jens.
Cause it (the blurb) certainly wasn't the focus of the article.

Huh???
GPL was released in 1998
The 2004 demo which the review focusses on was of course released last year.

Had a quick read of your article before posting Jens.
Couldnt see that you had made such a matter of fact cast in stone statement. IMO a headline shouldnt be as dogmatic, especially if it bears no relation to conclusions drawn in the subject article.
However I didnt read the second article which has the offending opinion : )
so I accept that the headline is valid in these circumstances and therefore apologise if I my response was considered offensive in any way.
Still, I have a strong opinion and it remains unchanged.
Cheers
Jim

No offence taken Jim
The bit of text posted by me when submitting the newsbit was;
"SimHQ Review: Grand Prix Legends 2004
SimHQ Review: Jens Lindblad and Alex Keep review Grand Prix Legends 2004
here: https://www.simhq.com/_motorsports/motorsports_042a.html"
Personally I would have taken another paragraph than the one that was eventually chosen by bhmotorsports, but stepping back from my love affair with GPL I must admit that some racers seem to think that F1 C is better looking.
We can see evidence of this in the threads that pop up from time to time when fellow simmers discuss the merits of GPL and F1 C.
Btw, I discovered a small error in the article; a picture was described as an illustration from your magnificent Isle of Man curcuit. In fact the picture showed GPLEA's Clermont Ferrand.

Hey Jens,
If you'd like to submit another blurb for the article, I'll be happy to repost it. I read the entire article and that was the only paragraph that I could find that would present the 'direction' of the piece. I apologize if it created a problem. The headline did not add enough 'texture' to get ppl to read it so I thought it needed a little fluff. Usually you can quote the first paragraph pretty easily but yours was a bit different.
Like I said, I'll be happy to edit it if you wish..
The last remaining GPL driver @ BHMS !

Hi David,
I can see your point of view.
If you find the time I'd suggest one of the following alternatives:
a)
"Your hands will be sweaty, you will be perspiring heavily and regret you didn't fit a safety belt to your chair before taking your 1967 Grand Prix car to Silverstone, Nurburgring or any of the classic circuits before they were deemed to be too unsafe and taken of the F1 calender, or being emasculated by chicanes and sand traps. Make an error at Spa-Francorchamps and you'll hit a tree or barrel-roll into a barn or some other building located right at the side of the track."
b)
"The carsets and alterations that have come out have arisen out of a desire to make the original GPL as good as possible, realizing the original releases limitations and overcoming them, making the game amongst the very best simulators (flight or racing). It can be picked up for 5. All the downloads are free and there is a huge amount of support available on the web.
So, what are you waiting for?"

Done.. check it and see if the flavor you wanted is there..
I combined your two statements into one and added a bit to it myself.
Lemme know what you think.
