Race2Play is excited to announce that Simbin Studios has provided our members the ability to "borrow" and run full retail versions of RACE: The WTCC Game

Simbin, in conjunction with Race2Play, offers Standard and Premium members the opportunity to try the full retail software at no cost and no risk. Just like checking out a book from the local library, Race2Play members may "check out" a copy of RACE to use for a short period (one to two weeks, depending on demand). Members may then participate in our regularly scheduled World Touring Car series and various fun runs featuring RACE.

Use the time to give the simulation a good workout. Run on the servers and participate in as many races as you like. If you find you are enjoy the close racing as much as the other members have, consider picking up a copy of the reasonably priced RACE and joining the series full-time.

"RACE 07 � a new game from Swedish SimBin, to be released on PC in Q2, 2007

After the intense action of the WTCC 06 season in RACE � The Official WTCC game it is time for a brand new �single seater� racing experience.
For the first time ever SimBin presents Formula cars, featuring Formula 3000, Formula BMW and in addition also Radical cars with the models SR3 and SR4.
But not only that, as the title RACE 07 signals, the game will ship with the full season of WTCC 2007, all the new cars and tracks are included as well as the 2006 season found in RACE.

RACE 07 comes with a bunch of new tracks and added track variations including new city tracks, alternate track layouts and reversed track option.

Several new community oriented features, game modes and online functionalities will be announced later.

To support these new race classes the player will be offered the choice between one- or two-race-format. Also the highly detailed damage system from RACE is adapted to give the Formula cars the vulnerability they have in real life. "

Although GTR 2 was only released a couple of months ago, Swedish outfit SimBin has been working flat out on the follow-up title, Race - The WTCC Game. In many respects the two titles look and feel similar, but there are crucial differences that make Race a compelling game in its own right.

The official setup is embraced with an initial selection of six auto brands presented in a manner less impressive than in GTR2, but austere and relevant - Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, Seat, Honda, and Peugeot - and ten tracks, which although few, assure enough variation through gradual challenge, starting with Monza and Brands Hatch, and closing with Puebla and Macau.

The driving itself is pretty solid, though owners of Simbin's previous titles may find it a bit weird to go from their fire-breathing 600bhp exotic supercars to the equivalent of a slightly souped-up family saloon. The mainly front-wheel-drive cars put much more of an emphasis on racing lines and smooth driving, and the enjoyable pack-racing features heavily.

Monza, Magny Cours, Brands Hatch, Oschersleben, Curitiba, Puebla, Brno, Istanbul, Valencia and Macau invite you to get a closer view on the touring car championship. I�d advise you to take a deep breathe before adventuring into the driving zone. As the developers try to provide us with an as realistic game as possible, they tend to allow you a lot of customizing options, yet the default settings are steep enough to be quite a challenge for you to control your car in a proper manner.

Okay, okay. We'll stop weeping over what this isn't - despite there being no good reason for a lack of progress, let alone the backward step - and we'll admit that our last gripe, about the driving model being a little dumbed down, actually works in its favour. These cars are undoubtedly easier to control and consequently RACE is more accessible than its somewhat hardcore stablemates - think of it parked squarely between GTR (at the trickier end of the scale) and GTR in the middle, while Need For Speed flops around at the easy end of the spectrum.

Anybody that played the GT game will understand the new game perfectly, as although the interface looks different, it features many of the same options. The single-player content actually features three racing championships--the main WTCC, with accurate driver and team data from the 2006 season; a 1987 series; and a Mini series.
