Crashday Review at CVG [15-04-2006 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
What were you doing in 1997? Britpop was still simmering, Michael Owen had yet to score that goal, and PC gaming was heralding a brave new dawn of accelerated graphics. Meanwhile, in Germany, the developer of Crashday was putting together some initial concepts for the game. Had the company managed to get it out of the door in the last millennium, it might have got away with it. As it is, it's blighted with such late 1990s traits as the much-maligned lens flare, the then ubiquitous kaleidoscopic graphical effect.

Crashday Review at Eurogamer [24-02-2006 | JZ | Comments (1) ]
Cut Ray Liotta out of your mental scrapbook and replace him with an MTV Europe News presenter from the early '90s. Now, replay the Goodfellas voice-over in your head. Congratulations - you're well on the way to understanding just how cringe-makingly horrendous the scripted introductions to each Crashday event are.

Crashday Preview at CVG [21-11-2005 | JZ | Comments (1) ]
Despite the somewhat serious implications of real wrecked cars (we're talking serious injury to adverts for car insurance), the virtual smashing of vehicles has always been fun - a sentiment shared by the creator of Crashday, a hi-octane game that believes a car isn't a car until it's hurtling through the air in several thousand pieces.
Amazingly though, the origins of this sleek, adrenalin-fuelled racer came when its creators were proud owners of bumfluff beards - at a tender 13 years of age. "Back in 1997, Crashday started as a hobby project of my friend Jan Bodenstein and me," explains project leader Robert Clemens. "Our dream was to create a game that blends the classic stunts and its track editor, with the wrecking action of Carmageddon."

Crashday to be published by Atari in Germany [28-02-2005 | IS | Comments (10) ]
Moonbyte Studios and Replay Studios are happy to announce that the stunt racing game "Crashday" (PC CD-ROM version) will be published by Atari in Germany and is going to be released in late 2005!
Blending the famous classic stunt racer "Stunts" and the wrecking game "Carmageddon", CRASHDAY introduces a whole new gaming experience: Realistic stunt physics, numerous varietal game modes, absolute freedom of movement and a powerful, integrated track editor to create innumerable custom maps.
During the career game the player, working for an underground video store, will participate in numerous challenging competitions like illegal stunt shows, head-to-head races or wrecking mayhems. With time the player will be able to purchase new cars, tuning parts and other accessory to finally reach the ladder's top of the illegal stunt drivers.
CRASHDAY fully supports multiplayer for both local network and internet. It is scheduled for late 2005 for PC and Playstation 2.
