Sirocco Racing v. 048 Released [27-02-2004 | AM | Comments (0) ]
I've managed to get the collision detection working at last :). I've also upped the network rate for more fluid online racing. I hope to make a video soon to show how the online racing is coming along.
I have also got the lap-timing working for brands indy, let me know what kind of laptimes are possible :)
If you have any problems / questions / comments, please let me know in the Sirocco Racing Forums.

Sirocco Racing v. 047 Ready for Download [15-02-2004 | AM | Comments (0) ]
I've finally cracked the secret of getting a smooth track! I know its a little too smooth, but its a good start and I can add bumps later on :).
I have also made a change to allow you to set the Field of View in the ./data/options.ini file.
I have made some changes to the car handling. I have dropped in a 400BHP engine. I have also changed the acceleration / braking grip curve to give it a flatter (more like a racing tyre) curve. As there is a little more grip to play with I have increased the brake strength.
I hope you like it, if you have any problems / questions / comments / suggestions please let me know in the Sirocco Racing forum.

Sirocco Physics Engine [07-02-2004 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
It is my pleasure to introduce you a new, single man sim-racing project called Sirocco Physics Engine. The mastermind behind it is Ashley McConnell and here is what he had to say:
The two most important factors for a Racing Simulator for me is Physics and Stable, Smooth online racing. I intend Sirocco to be very strong on both these areas. Graphics and sound add to the immersion in the sim, but I believe the physics core is what makes a sim special.
I would like to attempt to simulate a British Single make series, for example the TVR tuscan challenge or a Caterham or Westfield series. I think that single make series can result in very close, exciting and fun racing (fun in a Racing Sim?! Blashpemy!).
I am currently trying to implement smoothing (for collision detection) on the track. I would like to form curved surfaces from the triangles that make up the track. It is proving to be reasonably hard, but once Ive cracked it I think the car will handle 100% better."
