Race Driver Review at Khabal Gaming [11-08-2003 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
The graphics in the game is excellent. The racetracks and the racing cars are all beautifully done. From the Alfa Romeo GTV to the Viper GTS, you just simply cannot stop marveling at the 42 beautifully rendered cars. It is evident that a huge amount of attention is paid to each and every detail to make them as realistic as possible.

Codemasters has released a new multiplayer demo for TOCA Race Driver (a.k.a. Pro Race Driver), offering another chance to try out their touring car racing simulation that came out last March. Race Driver Review at Avault [27-05-2003 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
A few different racing modes are available to try out. Time Trial and Free Race both are useful to get you ready for the central Career mode. In Time Trial, you compete against your own records and try to beat your fastest time, and in Free Race, you may customize your own race by determining the degree of difficulty, selecting from a wide range of tracks, setting the number of laps, choosing weather conditions and choosing whether to activate pit stops. The Career mode takes you through a variety of places all over the world for intense championship racing. Accruing points through finishing high in the races is the key to rising in rank.

Race Driver Review at Bolt Games [23-05-2003 | JZ | Comments (3) ]
Pro Race Driver is a port of the PS2 version released earlier this year. The game has had a major overhaul to make it more PC friendly except for one aspect, menu navigation. There is no mouse support in the game so you will be navigating every menu with the combination of your enter, escape and arrow keys. This starts to be cumbersome and annoying very fast but dont let it discourage you from playing because the rest of the game makes up for this flaw.

Race Driver Review at Game Zone [19-05-2003 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
Other options will include the controller, sound, and graphics settings. This game does support Force Feedback. After installing the game I set it up to use my Logitech MOMO FF Racing Wheel. After just a few adjustments to the deadzones and end point, I had the game ripping along, the force feedback vibrations shaking everything from pens and pencils to my coffee cup off my desk!

Race Driver Review at Game Chronicles [09-05-2003 | JZ | Comments (3) ]
I bet some of the guys will go crazy after reading this review. Here is a sneak peak: "Physics are truly state-of-the-art just as the box proclaims. Not since Gran Turismo 3 have I seen such realistic physics, only Pro Race Driver wont have you bouncing off the walls or other cars. Your car will now take realistic damage that is not only reflected visually but in the way your car performs. If you smack into that wall at 120mph you can rest assured your car will start pulling to the side. Body parts are detachable and bumpers and fenders will fly off on impact. You may even have to dodge a piece of car lying in the track on future laps."

Race Driver Review at Gamers Depot [07-05-2003 | JZ | Comments (2) ]
Speaking of controls, even on the keyboard (although we dont recommend it) Pro Race Driver is manageable and fun. If youve got a gamepad, however use it. Better yet, if youre one of those lucky gamers with their own racing wheel setup, youre in for a real treat as the game has solid support for a wide range of wheels. We tested the game with Logitechs MoMo Racing Wheel and the game was just a blast to play. The game allows for full button and axis customization and needed no calibration whatsoever.

Race Driver Review at CVG [05-05-2003 | JZ | Comments (1) ]
Hitting other cars is also sometimes unavoidable, and the consequences extend to more than just messing up the paintwork. Cut someone up here and they will confront you after the race with a volley of abuse, and quite possibly hold a grudge. All of which sounds very similar to Total Immersion Racing, a game that was released a few months ago to scant acclaim...

Race Driver Review at Next Level Gaming [05-05-2003 | JZ | Comments (1) ]
Pro Race Driver, at its core, is an intense, realistic racing game, but it will introduce a narrative character-based storyline. You assume the role of aspiring test driver Ryan McKane, who as a child watched his father crash, burn, and die on the racetrack. Years later, he comes into his own as a test driver. As a favor from his brother, Ryan is approached by a team with a problem; they have no race driver. So they offer you a position... if you can cut it. From there on, must win a series of races in an effort to move Ryan up the ranks. Maybe even to the greatness of his father.

Race Driver Review at Llan [30-04-2003 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
The other main difference this time around is the fact that theyve added a storyline to the game odd for a racing game, but it helps with the longevity of it! In the game, you play Ryan Mckane, young up and coming race driver following in the footsteps of his father(who was killed on the track in front of him), and his brother, who is also in the racing business. Because of this, Ryan feels like he has a lot to prove!
