Race Driver 2 Review at GamersHell [21-08-2004 | JZ | Comments (1) ]
After getting acquainted with each cars handling, multi-player is another option if racing against AI opponents gets tiresome. Up to 21 players can battle it out for the top position at once, although many hosted games were only able to reach the 17 player mark.

Race Driver 2 - Editing Future [21-07-2004 | JZ | Comments (3) ]
R.E.G/I have recently been in contact with "Codemasters" about the situation of "Editing and Modding" i.e adding new cars and tracks etc for a good longevity to the game. This is a *Groundbreaking* moment for R.E.G and the gaming & editing community as RD2 is one the the best online racing games around and *Editing* needs must, for which they will now be rewarded.
I am happy to announce that "Codemasters" have acknowledged the matter and have replied to me with details of support for the community in the form of "Tools/Toolkit" for Race Driver 2, I afraid at this stage I cannot tell you any more on the matter apart from 100% that editing will be possible for *addition* of new models *.p3d mesh formats for which we have been longing for so long for...

Race Driver 2 Review at Game Chronicles [22-06-2004 | JZ | Comments (1) ]
Depending on your style of racing you will either want to get your gamepad or a steering wheel setup for this game. I initially took a few laps with my Saitek gamepad before pulling my Logitech MOMO Racing Wheel out of retirement. Its been a long time since a racing game came out for the PC that required my precious MOMO, and I was glad to slip behind the leather-wrapped wheel once again.

Race Driver 2 Review at G4TechTV [09-06-2004 | JZ | Comments (1) ]
The other major way to play TOCA Race Driver 2 is through free races. Here you pick from available races and cars (all unlocked by doing well in career mode), set up your preferences, and go. Gearheads will have the most fun here as there are many ways to tweak your car. Suspension, shifting, tire pressure, you name it.

Race Driver 2 Review at Fragland [31-05-2004 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
Most of the cars also have a different control. Formula Ford makes me think of a lawnmower (also by the sound) and with a truck youll need to break a lot sooner than with a modern speedy flyer if you dont want to end up in the grass.

Race Driver 2 Review at PC Gameworld [30-05-2004 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
I was astounded that the tutorial from the console version hasn't been altered at all in the PC version. The team owner tells you to press the button down harder to go faster and brake harder. Maybe analogue keyboards have become the norm without me noticing, but I doubt it. I can just imagine some kid breaking his keyboard by trying to 'go faster'. Things like this just shouldn't have gotten through QA.

Race Driver 2 Review at GameSpy [27-05-2004 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
And, if this isn't the ultimate racing simulator, it certainly has the widest range. TOCA Race Driver 2 offers an amazing variety of racing types: 15 different kinds of rides, including stock cars, rally cars, formula cars, hot rods -- even pickups and semi trucks. No driver in the real world could ever dream of having a career this diverse, but the game's career mode gives you exactly that, in 31 championships -- real and fictional -- on 48 tracks.

Race Driver 2 Official Patch v. 1.2 [25-05-2004 | JZ | Comments (3) ]
It fixes 2 issues introduced in 1.1 - inability to select cars in online radces with setups enabled, and a possible soft hang caused by players retiring during the extended timeout period. As it's an all-in-one install, it also does everything that v. 1.1 did.

Race Driver 2 Review at Elite Bastards [04-05-2004 | JZ | Comments (3) ]
The career mode sees you working through various different championships with different cars, being given a target (either financial or position-based) for each one - You cannot progress on to a new championship until you have successfully reached your goal in the current one. Your career throughout is interspersed with movies relevant to your progress, in an attempt to inject some storyline into the otherwise linear career progression. These scenes aren't too horribly distracting (at least in comparison to the Ryan McKane scenario in the original Race Driver), but do come off as being somewhat cheesy, and you'll probably find yourself wanting to skip the cut scenes before too long.

Race Driver 2 Review at Gamer TV [03-05-2004 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
Some 35 vehicles are available to throw around more than 52 real-life tracks from around the world, including the Ford GT, Aston Martin Vanquish, Jaguar XKR, Nissan Skyline and AMG-Mercedes CLK. All of them are brilliantly breakable, too. Codemasters' much-lauded Terminal Damage Engine applies appropriate destruction to cars depending on how they crash and how hard they do it.

Race Driver 2 Review at Gamespot [30-04-2004 | JZ | Comments (2) ]
TOCA Race Driver 2 is all about variety. Rarely has there been a game that brings as many types of races to the table as this one does. You can choose from a bevy of different race types and concordant cars, including stock cars, rallies, Super Trucks, street racing, Mustangs, Land Rovers, open-wheel racers, and so on.
