It's been 3 years this month since the last time they updated their website. I just checked it out, figuring by now they would have either offered some news or just shut the site down.
It's those damn screen shots. They look so good, you just want to believe that someday it will become a reality. |

Yeah well, those are touched up renders and not in-game content. Even if RL exists in playable code (very unlikely), it will not look anything like that.
Too much time has passed and whatever state RL is in now, it will not impress anyone. My guess is we will probably see their dead website for a few years more, until it eventually disappears along with Westies. Never to be heard from again.
Why BHMS admins keep the RL section is beyond me. |

Well, just dont eat your heart out. Turning their back on a dedicated community like this was a big mistake. Keeping everybodys hopes up only to disappear without a trace. No official explanation. No excuses... nothing but old promises fading away while the years go by.
If Westies believe anyone would respect them as a developer after this, they are seriously mistaken. We are no casual gamers, we do not forget. |

Well they had a rough ride in the begining and plans ovbiously had to be changed and with it, their wishes and goals.
I'm convinced they have at least been developing for 3 years.
Hard to bealive they would piss that away for nothing.
As for stepping out of the lime light.
Woulden't you too, after reading so many ugly comments in your own forum.
I'm not saying everything has been smart on West side of the story but still, people can be mean, apparantly for no reason.
Those who laid down payment in advance where not the once who did the complaining.
If its not going to happen? Then I truly feel sorry for them, but since they have said anything of this kind, as far as I know, I keep the faith.

More likely they are busy with something else that occupies their lives. Westies choose to stand alone without a publisher and I heard they even sold a house to finance Racing Legends. The money eventually ran out and Westies had to face fact. To expect anyone to work without profit for so many years is to expect too much. Even if finished, a project like Racing Legends could never cover such expenses. It is just not financially realistic.
Ashamed to have failed a second time they simply withdrew in silence and left the community without a clue.
End of story. |

I know they sold their house in an attempt to make their own and our dream come true.
I'm not totally sure but didn't they write that they had secured the development of project by getting more money from an outside sponsour or such before the house money was used up.
I don't know if this is 100% facts but at least it is to some degree true.
What's happen since then? I don't know.
But you seam to be so sure that the RL project has gone down the drain.
What are your sources for bealiving this.
I'll stop bealiving the day its confirmed in public by the West bros or anyone close to them.
Unless of coerce you can confirm what you say is true.

Sources? The last update on RL was a stinky render on some transporter bus. That was in October 2003 and its 2007 now. I rest my case.
You are free to believe what ever you want. I am just being realistic. I hope the website is taken offline soon because it still causes confusion among believers and newcomers.
I hold nothing against you for hoping though. I did too for a few years, but I am older and wiser now (hopefully).

Of coerce i have. It was their first big release, but took to long to develop and publisher wanted the West brothers to make it more into an arcade game.
It was take of their hands and released, and flopped.
RL was created as an idea during that period.
I don't really care if they finish RL or not, but I sure hope so.
They have done a few mistakes, but you can't really blame them for going underground. Some of the people who visited their forums where simply trolls and at least 1 person was down right, sick in his mind.
I've read posts from respected members in the GPL community who said they have visited the West brothers and seen the work.
Its been a while since, but i'm sure if the project is stoped, we would have heard something.
So until I see PROOF that they have abandoned the project, I remain an optemist.
I wish them sucsess and happines no matter how it goes.
People who tries hard to fulfill their dreams deserves that.
