1976: Volkswagen creates the world’s first compact sports car, the Golf GTI. In that year a Golf capable of travelling at 182 km/h creates uproar in the establishment. This compact young maverick looms large in the rear-view mirrors of the fast sports cars and heavy limousines on the motorways, and the rest is history. Today, 93.2 percent of all Europeans are familiar with the GTI. Golf GTI drivers don’t have to justify themselves; they’re driving a statement, one of 1.5 million originals. The GTI phenomenon can now be experienced in virtual form. Players of the PC game centred around this cult object can experience 15 different models in the 5 series, plus bonus cars like the New Beetle, the Samba and even concept cars! The enhanced XPR® engine delivers stunning photorealistic graphics, true-to-life physics, and fantastic weather effects. And of course, the cars can all be individually tuned. In addition to Career Mode, the asphalt awaits in 5 other racing modes for single and (up to Cool multiple players.

Features:

- Original Volkswagen Licence
- 15 original and detailed Golf models (GTI models from 1976 to 2004, bonus cars including the New Beetle)
- Hundreds of tuning and customising options
- Career mode, racing, time trials, Follow the Leader, ½-Mile Duel, and more
- Photorealistic graphics, dynamic physics, and detailed damage model

Sounds promising but I have my doubts.

Heheh Smile

I have a VW golf III and I like it. Ofcourse it's FWD... but it is the one and only disadvantage in this car Smile
Because of it I am interested in this title.

Looks like a licensed car, tarmac version of XPand rally, to me, and Xpand is one title that´s really gathering dust on my shelf. looks great but it was shitty to drive. I´ll try any demo a long time before spending on this Techland game.

Yep, if this is a Techland production count me out.
I don't have high hopes, in fact, looks alot like that AlfaRomeo arcade game that was supposed to be a "simulator".

Are You talking about SCAR? I have to admit, flushfaced, that I bought that too. Thank god it was on a sale for 12.99€, but still... Embarassed
But I wasen´t expecting much from SCAR. I was however expecting a LOT from Xpand rally, ´cause it looked so damn cool. but the driving was crap.

As a VW fan and owner, it looks interesting but, I seriously doubt it can deliver in terms of driving realism. I might pull it out of the bargin bin someday unless I hear reviews that convince me one way or the other.

It uses Xpand Rally engine and I liked how the car behaved there. So it can only get better.

What about the graphics engine of this new game? Will it be the same as XPand Rally? The visual of XPand rally was stunning, but the FPS was a shame... terrible! Even with a good Spec of PC... So, it was a very frustrating point of that game (at the side of "Physics"), because we had a very beautiful (potential) of graphics, but we simply couldn't use it, to get a minimal decent FPS...

If the Techalnd Team didn't improved that point (and the physics, too), I surely will be "out" of this new game...

I see that they also have no "cockpit" screen shots. I remember when I did the Beta testing for XPand, we all loaded it up, and WTF no cockpit view???
We had to raise hell in the forum for them to add an actual cockpit view for us to drive with. A racing "Simulator" without a cockpit driving view, is comparable to having a real car with no steering wheel Very Happy

Unfortunatley XR demo looked stunning on my PC, shame it didn't use that power to look shit and have some physics behind it. This looks just like XR and whenever these questionable off road/rally 'sims' try and simulate a hard track they are just all over the place (think CRC).

I keep waiting for a game that will let me drive "my" car (2004 VW R32), which I assume this will have. A quick look at the screenshots indicates arcade racing, so count me out. Oh well, maybe someone will make an R32 for rFactor.

Like someone mentioned above, if it turns up in the bragain bin soon - which is likely - I may grab it as a novelty.
