We dig into track-51_N_textures.rbz from "maps" directory (*.rbz files are *.zip files in fact )
track-51_N_textures\damp\new\
This one is Noiker for instance
There are many particular track textures, among them we find HO_ROAD01_A.dds and HO_ROAD03_A.dds
DXT1 format 256x256 size
U can replace it with whatever U want, it may be MB_ROAD02.dds from track43 textures (Bisanne).
This is simple - just one texture. But there are stages which don't have a single file for surface. In fact, all stages have two files in common :
TrackTexturePlateOpaque.dds - there we have ALL surfaces from particular stage
ObjectTexturePlateTransparent.dds - bushes trees (nature geneRally) Beware of mipmaps! (transparency / alpha channel or sth )
I attach stage numbers list - there you'll find numbers which will guide U to particular files, for instance :
stage 31 # NewBobs
U are to mess with track-31_E_textures.rbz
stage 71 # Rally School
-> track-71_M_textures.rbz
Remember U can unpack rbz files (as they are *.zip files for remembrance) into track-31_E_textures\ directory for instance and the game will read files from that dir in place of default ones. U don't have to put all files there - if there is only one texture (changed ground for instance) - the game will read it and the default rest will be read from rbz file
oh, U find "dry" "damp" "wet" dirs inside rbz file and "new" "normal" "worn" inside these. "worn" is what U get when U drive as 9th car in championship for instance Have fun and experiment freely. My dream is to drive inside quarry in Marsian enviroment (gravity changed too ) I think "Mars Rally" could be nice fun With love

I'm attaching a screenshot of dds texture responsible for track surface, grass and some other things. Im working with Ivan on mod which will change every rally to tarmac.
This is my idea to identify which texture is where on the track. I have put numbers on each square in the file. Then I started the game and everywhere numbers appeared so I knew what is what.

I will check that out as well, the podium needs serious changes, but I'm afraid like many 'small' thinkgs in RBR, it will be some ugly 4x4 pixel texture..

These directions are very dificult for me to understand. I'm sorry! I am looking to make Finland a tarmac rally. I was going to use RBR-O, but I am looking to switch over my modded RBR directory, not my regular one and RBR-O will only switch around my regular RBR directory which means I will have to do this by hand (unless there is a Finland only tarmac mod).
Any advice?

OK, I searched with different terms and came up with a bunch of stuff, but not what I am looking for.
All the tarmac mods out there are for all tracks- not just one. The problem with this is that i have modded other tracks and the tarmac mod messes those mods up. It'll make Finalnd into tarmac, but it'll just mess up the other tracks and I have to reinstall all the other mods each time I do the mod. RSRBR2 won't work for me at all (it uses DOS commands to install the mods and my system balks at that).
I would like only Finland, but all that is available is everything tarmac. So it's like I order a glass of water at a resaurant but all they have is water by the bucket
