Motorsport EVO1 WIP Release
[30-11-2004 | IS | Comments (0) ]
Following the teaser video released 10 days ago, here you have the first Windows release of Motorsport. Please keep in mind that this release is just to show the current status of the community project, it's meant to be a 'teaser' for later, more mature releases.

Interesting features that can be found in this release:

  • Variable time scale. You can play in 'bullet-time' mode and watch the subtleties of the suspension in slowmotion.
  • Completely modifiable vehicle physics and setup: modify the Mosp1 and make it become an eight-wheeled car, or maybe a 4-wheel-steering monster truck.
  • Experiment using moon or jupiter gravity.
  • Soften the suspension and try to keep the car on 2 wheels for so long as possible.
  • Add 20 giant-cubes to the track and see how they react when being hit by the vehicle.
  • Watch the car mesh in wireframe mode and see how the LOD system scales its detail.
  • Use 'backspace', 'enter' and 'rightshift' to apply up/downwards forces to the car body and see how the suspension behaves.
  • Etc...
The Physics are really basic at the moment, so the car won't behave specially realistically. You can (if nothing goes wrong) use you steering wheel and split brake/gas pedals, or just use any of the 2 different keyboard layouts.

New Motorsport E1 teaser video
[20-11-2004 | IS | Comments (0) ]
Motorsports' development is progressing at a good pace lately. "We'd have liked to be able to release Motorsport Evolution 1 this month, one year after the idea was born, but it has not been possible. Therefore, we've decided to create a small teaser video showing what we have at the moment."

If you want to help in the development of this community project, simply head to the Motorsport forums and read the FAQ thread.

Motorsport Gameguide Section
[20-10-2004 | IS | Comments (0) ]
The goal of Motorsport is to become the most realistic simulation of wheeled vehicles possible. Now that the release of Evolution 1 is near, we decided to open a game guide for this Open Source Community Project. The goal of Motorsport is to become the most realistic simulation of wheeled vehicles possible. The addition of cars and tracks will be a simple task, and there will be a system for customization of most of the simulator features.
