FlatOut Review at GPM [30-11-2005 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
Destruction, Carnage, Racing all three of these things rolled into one game. FlatOut has plenty of races, which require you to smash and crash other cars to win. With all those races, it feels good to take a break every once in awhile, so Empire Interactive put mini-games and good old destruction derby, with a few even more mini destruction races. This game has plenty of fun packed into it to keep you busy for hours.

FlatOut Review at Playware [31-12-2004 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
FlatOut is one of the best games I've played in a long, long time. It seems that these days the major focus for racing games is realism or the ability to customize cars (greetings, Richard Burns Rally and Underground), it was not always this way. This game is different, FlatOut's builds on the pillars of realism, but in a very fun way. Hit a barrier and they will scatter across the track.

FlatOut Review at RealGamer [20-12-2004 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
FlatOut is a game designed entirely to exploit the fun factor of racing. Youll find no pit-stops, tyre pressures or complicated spreadsheets here. Oh no, FlatOut likes to throw you straight into the action and the need for any other button besides a big Race button, and maybe, for the rarest of occasions an exit one, is entirely open to question.

FlatOut Review at Avault [16-12-2004 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
Despite all the realistic damage though, FlatOut is essentially an arcade-like racer. The player's car can never be fully destroyed, but sufficient damage can cause the engine to light on fire or the tires to wobble unsteadily, negatively affecting the vehicle's speed and handling. Furthermore, hitting certain objects with sufficient speed can cause the player's beltless driver to fly spectacularly out of the vehicle, rolling and flailing with ragdoll physics before coming to a rest. Following this dramatic event (which can happen to a reckless driver several times a race), players can quickly reset their car and continue the race, only losing a few seconds of lap time.

FlatOut Preview at CVG [26-11-2004 | JZ | Comments (1) ]
Based loosely on the world of amateur stock-car racing, FlatOut is a straightforward racer with the one advantage of having fantastic physics. The damage model is among the best in the business, enabling your car to twist, warp, smash and disintegrate in magnificent fashion. Bonnets crumple and fly off, wheels distort, exhaust systems drag on the ground. And in a hilarious (if slightly disturbing) twist, your driver even gets hurled through the windshield onto the road given enough encouragement.
