F1CM has been in development for many years now at the hands of a group of motor sport enthusiasts who aim to create the best motor sport manager simulation to date. The fact that the development team (AzTech Games) are such enthusiasts means that the game contains previously unseen levels of realism, so very lacking in other such games.
The game places the user in the role of a Formula One Technical director who takes charge of a F1 team. With this challenge comes to a wide range of responsibilities which demonstrate the huge level of detail that has gone into the making of F1CM. From a staff module where the player has to choose the best staff to suit the needs of his or hers team as well as supervising the design department where new components are developed to improve on track performance and ultimately deliver the results on which your team will judge you and your individual reputation built, allowing the user to move on to bigger and better teams if the opportunity arises.
In the design department the user has to make choices of how best to achieve maximum gains in speed for the smallest possible cost, after all a team only has so much money to spend, therefore intelligent use of this budget is yet another key aspect of F1CM and should provide the user with a very interesting and realistic challenge. There are a total 20 parts which can be developed on the current years car and as well as the need to develop a new car for the following season. Although the user in his role as technical director will not conduct each of these tasks themselves the final decision on what to develop, how much to spend on it will lie with the technical director as the user delegates tasks to appropriate people.
So this development can be paid for each team needs to have sponsorship from various companies, again it is the player who will instruct his marketing team which companies to target in the hope of generating the highest possible income for the team. The higher the level of budget a team can generate the better standard of drivers and staff that can be hired. As well as this the money can be put towards improving facilities at your teams headquarters, all of which if done correctly should improve your teams performance.
Media interaction is another feature in F1CM not only can you look through the latest F1 magazine to check results and all the rumours floating up and down the pit lane you can also make statements to the media about your expectations for the team at any given race weekend; if you meet your expectations you will be able to praise areas of your team and if you fail you also have the option to criticize, a true test of the players motivational acumen as this will effect different team members and departments in different ways.
Of course there are also race weekends where the attention turns to setting up the cars, choosing the correct strategy, perhaps the most high pressure part of the job. The correct strategy could allow you to capitalise on other teams strategic failings thus allowing your team to achieve great things, yet a bad strategy could ruin your teams weekend and leave you red faced; add to this the realistic weather simulation where even your best made plans could instantly turn to dust.
One thing is for certain in F1CM the pressure is always on just as it is for those in the real world of F1. And this simulation excels due to the sheer scope that has gone into its creation. A list of many more of the game features is listed below. Above is only a short synopsis of what this amazing game can offer you as it sucks you into the world of F1 management.
