As you guys seem to be one of the strongest remaining RBR communities out there, I thought you might be interested to know that in the latest issue of Autosimsport I was lucky enough to interview Eero Piitulainen (creator RBR's physics and now of Slightly Mad Studios) and Todd Wasson (physics developer on Virtual RC and general tire guru/physics expert) to ask about the complexities of loose surface tire modelling.
There wasn't any real aim or goal for the article other than my interest in the subject and wondering where we might see the next loose surface model arise from, and exactly what that would entail. Time constraints and a few unforeseen problems got in the way of it being as thorough and detailed as I had wished, but for those of you like me who have an interest in this area, I hope it makes interesting reading nonetheless.
You can get the new issue here: https://www.autosimsport.net/index2/index.php
If you get a fraction from reading it as I did from talking to these two great, interesting members of our community then I will consider it a success
Please spread the word to other people you think might be interested. If we keep the fires burning, sooner or later a new sim might just come our way to satisfy our loose-surface desires. Speaking of which, I found one of Eero's answers regarding the tyre model in the NFS:SHIFT interview I did with him quite intriguing...
Regards,
Simon |

Glad you liked it.
As for the future, we'll just have to wait and see. But rest assured I'm badgering everyone I get a chance to speak with to turn their sims to rally/rallycross |
