Oh my god it's now official, here is the IGN article :

Official WRC Game Announced
Black Bean and Milestone getting behind the wheel.
by Martin Robinson, IGN UK

UK, October 5, 2009 - The World Rally Championship is getting an all-new official game, courtesy of automotive specialists Black Bean and developer Milestone.

Milestone has most recently been responsible for the solid if unremarkable pair of SBK-08 and Superstars V8 Racing. "We are particularly proud to bring the WRC franchise back into the videogames arena after so many years of absence," said Black Bean's Virgilio Bixio

"Milestone has been working hard on this title and our expectations are really high. We will be able to provide the utmost competitive title that will provide extremely positive results. Furthermore, Milestone's work is enriched by the overwhelming support we have received from the WRC community."

However, there could be a couple of flies in the ointment for the team; Sony's behemoth Gran Turismo 5, due next Spring, will also be bearing the official licence, which itself has diminished somewhat of late with the World Rally Championship bearing the brunt of the car industry's recent struggles and losing several big manufacturers.

The game is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, and is scheduled
for release next year.

They should have said RBR community instead of WRC community... anyway,...Is it the end of RBR fame ? We will see... Smile

Another article here : https://playground.moddingway.com/news/355.html

Black Bean Games announced their license agreement with FIA conserning the World Rally Championship. Following their agreement, BBG and Milestone Studios are going to release their first WRC game in 2010 for PS3, Xbox360 and PC platforms!

The news about the announcement was surprising to most of us, since we knew that Sony had WRC license until now and they, actually, used it to the following Gran Turismo 5 title, which is going to be released in Q1 2010!

Here is the press release by Black Bean:

"NEW OFFICIAL FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TO BE LAUNCHED

WRC's unique off-road driving experience is coming back

Fans of the FIA World Rally Championship will soon be able to get closer to the action after it was announced today that a new official WRC console game is now under development and scheduled for launch in 2010.

The agreement with leading Milan based publisher, Black Bean Games, will see the WRC game available across the world for the first time on PlayStation®3, Xbox360® videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft® and PC formats. Black Bean Games, and their in-house development studio Milestone, have an excellent track record of successful motorsport games including the SBK Superbike championship and MotoGP.

The new official WRC game will provide the sport with major promotional and commercial opportunities, which will continue to grow the reach and appeal of the WRC on a global scale.

Simon Long, ISC CEO, said: “The official WRC game will engage a whole new audience for the sport and we’re tremendously excited at the opportunities to grow our fan base and the profile of the WRC. It provides a hugely powerful touch point for us in which to showcase the WRC to consumers, and it will be the most realistic and playable rally game of all time. We chose to work with Black Bean Games because they have a proven track record making top level games with the official license in two-wheel motorsport.”

Virgilio Bixio, Black Bean Games President, added: “We are particularly proud to bring the WRC franchise back into the videogames arena after so many years of absence. Milestone has been working hard on this title and our expectations are really high. We will be able to provide the utmost competitive title that will provide extremely positive results. Furthermore, Milestone’s work is enriched by the overwhelming support we have received from the WRC community.”

The official WRC game agreement was secured by ISC, the exclusive worldwide media and commercial rights holder for the FIA World Rally Championship."

Black Bean is a company with much racing experience, mostly known of the SBK series, official Superbikes World Championship title.

mmm... I like to see what Simon Long understand for "realistic". If he thinks that realistic means top graphics... I'm sorry for us... I hope he understands top physics.

Maybe this game has something to do with previous announcement of upcoming official WRC game from ISC?

Simon Long interview : https://www.rallybuzz.com/simon-long-isc-interview/

''In October we'll unveil a new portfolio of sports programming which will offer great WRC coverage to our established fan base''

So, I hope they release in-game footage soon...but I'm still not sure, they said somewhere Milestones have just been contacted to promote wrc with a new game, and now they already announce the game for 2010...looks like a small schedule development time. Confused

That is A LOT to say. Long is either stupid and has never even tried RBR or he is a genius and knows what he's talking about. I hope this game has the most realistic physics ever but.. Probably it's another Colin McRae stylish game with a WRC name on it Not talking

Yep, probably...

at least the good news is that game developer will build the stages according to wrc on-stage mapping technology that we see at eurosport, so maybe we'll be able to convert them for RBR. Smile

I have to admit they should have choosen a much better studio like SimBin, ISI, or the new talented guys of Slightly Mad Studios which are responsible for the NFS Shift game and include veteran developers from GTR2 and Eero Piitulainen(RBR physics).

But after all, Warthog and SCi was not the best studios for a racing simulator and they succeed to deliver a great experience in the physic department. Apart from handling, RBR doesn't have a lot to proof himself of. The limited amount of cars and poor 3d models, graphics, limited hp and rwd physics, online and monotonous racetracks doesn't helped a lot to make this title a name.

This is the community who made this a great game since the begining. So let's just wait and keep our finger crossed...and maybe we'll have a medium quality title, but easy to mod with great physics and online play!

They said sbk riding challenge , sbk 08/09, superstars V8 racing, are the most realistic games to date, and when you bought it , you realized its horrible, physics wise.
Ether company just makes buisness, or they realy trying to make a good game, but lack a talented physics programer, after all its not easy to make a realistic game.

It will probably be like superstars V8 and they will still claim its hardcore realistic.

The question is: will we be able to tweak physics, make new cars and tracks? If developer will be keen to support community, then we'll have a long awaited successor to RBR.

Dont get your hopes up on "realistic" thing... That is just marketing bs..
I think it will be hard to bring all the real stages in real length so it might be a disappointment..
If they really had all the stages from WRC like I heard before it will be good for us rally fans no matter the physics..
Dirt is a joke and I hear Dirt2 is even a bigger joke..
wtf 2 minute stages..

If they are smart enough and whoever is funding this (fia? wrc?) make arcade/normal/sim mode than it can have the best off all worlds..
Sales and accessibility of arcades and longevity and community of sims but even that is unlikely as it takes much more time to make sim mode than arcade

I think there is no one smell to sim game lake you all say, maybe graphics will be nice but about physics it's difficult to say any good words because last game V8 is totally crap but have a really beautiful and realistic graphics engine and it's is really broad group of people but not for sim racers.. hope FIA and WRC know about last shit game V8 and put higher level for Black Bean Games. Wink
