From what has been said, and said to me, a lot of people have complained to Mike Helton and NASCAR about EA's lack of realism. I really hope NASCAR has learned to NEVER give an exclusive license. I mean they killed Papyrus in the process, but we still have iRacing (Kind of like Papyrus 2), TSF, and even Infogrames. Codemasters, as much as I like their games, would be a terrible option because they cater to everyone, instead of the hardcore guys. There are options out there, I just hope the right people get the license.

I might be able to put NASCAR into my simulator after all. EA SPORTS doesn't want compitition, and now that they don't have any, they don't care about what they do. I have actually had more fun in NT2004 than I have in the same situation in NSR. Because when EA SPORTS had compitition, they did realy well (in the rules and physics), and Papyrus did well (in physics, rules, and track configuration). After the compitition was over, EA SPORTS made one final simulator that we know as NSR. It did well in the track configuration and even the physics seemed to be good compaired to the rule enforcement. And there goes Formula-1 for my simulator. Looks like codemasters is looking for a repeat of EA SPORTS.

I think it is possible and even likely that the exclusie licence has hurt NASCAR. Sure, you can enforce some rules with the PS2, but you can't turn off auto pit or auto pace lap without getting wreaked while selecting you pit options (not that it's not risky on the computer) and why is it that I can clearly make out the wire frame of the race tracks? Yes, those games are fun, but I want something more realistic. And I can't think of anyone here, or in the NR2003, NT2004, or rFactor communities that would want anything less than realism.

To EA SPORTS: See you at the finish line!

With what the Sim Factory has done with ASR, that might be an option too. But I don't think Nascar wants a company to take a decade worth of patches to get all of the tracks and features in. I like the realism in the graphics from Codemasters in Grid, but I'm afraid if the got the Nascar License they'd be no different than EA. iRacing would be nice, but I wouldn't want to pay on a monthly basis to be able to race. I think the SimBin did a pretty good job with GTR, GTR2 and GT Legends. I think they might be a good option. Ultimately, Nascar should open it up to a few companies. 2003 was a good year for the PC sim driver. The Sim Bin would be good for PC while Codemasters would make a great console game, etc... Opening the license to maybe three compaines would cover the market pretty good with three different types of Nascar sims/games.

If there is no exclusive licence, that anyone could purchace a licence if they wanted to to build a simulator. I'm already working with one racing company to put their series into my simulator, however, with the season under way, and a race every couple of weeks now for the next month, it's been going a little slow.

Timothy Chapman,

NO ONE wants to hear about your "simulator". We know it will never happen! Hell, you cant even get a mod finished and you expect to do a simulator? And, I do believe you do not even drive, so how in the hell are you going to get "real" physics if you don't even know what a car feels like over 100mph? And, on top of all else, from the questions I see you ask around the net, your modeling/programming/graphics skills are very-very lacking!

Quit hijacking threads with your "simulator" that will never happen.

Nathan, you know nothing about what I do. Why don't you just go and download the TCR Raceway for both rFactor and NR2003. And I've logged about 10 hours on the road. The simulator will happen! All I did was make a small comment about how the doors are going to open because there is no exclusive licence. We are going to get back on topic NOW!!

I agree Nathan, it had to be said. This is a forum for NSR. If you want to talk about and post updates for your "simulator", just put in a request to start a new forum topic and start a whole new listing for your sim. Turing every NSR thread into a discussion about your sim makes about as much sense as trying to change the subject to water polo or anything else that has nothing to do with NSR. And Cowbob, keep in mind that it's not cool to trash people's work unless you can produce something better. Anyone else wanting to talk trash, just PM it to Chapman. Trash talking about his sim / work in this thread, is just as out of place as him talking about it here.

Anyone have anything to say about the intended subject Hooter started with?

I wonder if EA SPORTS will start making PC simulators because of this non-exclusive licence. Even if they do, the most I'll probably ever do is download the demo. Then again, if NASCAR doesn't sign at all with EA, then that's probably the last we'll hear about EA SPORTS and motorsports.
