Yes, sadly there are many compatibility issues, because they don't have all kind of hardware to test it on. And the game needs a strong PC to run on.
Try this, it solved this problem for some people:

I try to run, but it says to run config.exe - but there is no config.exe???!?!?

whit this file i can play at even higher settings

To AolBites: The config.exe doesn't exist in 1.11 anymore, this is a bug. I think it hasn't been solved yet. I hope there will be a new beta soon.
To Werner Van Kuyk:
Yes, there are plans for more cars. An FWD car is already in progress (Trabant 601). Probably the game will not be free, when finished, it will be sold through the internet, just like LFS. As soon as the game is completed, tools will be available for modders. The game will support online races. So it will be like LFS or rFactor, but in rally. As far as I know, these are the plans now.

most likely the error is cause I'm trying to run in 16:9 perhaps? just guessing it isn't happy with 1080p as a default resolution =P
can't wait to try it though, it looks great!
on mod tools, It would be great to be able to import real world elevations when making tracks .. so support for some sort of DEM file would be handy. |

| its a bit strange, I tried many different settings, even 800x600 and I still got the same error... do my files look the same as everyone else? am I supposed to be trying to run engine.exe? its the only file I see to run ... |

Yes, engine.exe is the file to start the game. I haven't found a solution to this error yet. Try another video card driver, maybe that'll work.
