A playable demo for Race Driver GRID is now available, offering a test drive of the PC edition of the next installment in the Race Driver series of motorsports simulations. Word is: "The demo offers 3 events to compete in. The eBay Motors Muscle Cup sees you taking the wheel of a Ford Mustang GT-R and the streets of San Francisco, the Advan International Trophy hands you a Nissan S15 Silvia and your playground is Yokohama Docks, and the Euro Touring Car Series provides some old-school tin-top thrills with a BMW 320si touring car and the sweeping curves and hairpins of Jarama." Demo is 894Mb big.

As usual, I spend more time setting up my controller with another Codemasters game than I do playing it... and when I finally get it set up, its still nowhere near RBR, GTR2, or Rfactor. I cannot get into any other details because I was so mad about getting the controller setup I gave up. I'll come back later and try to set up my G25.
2 hours later:
I give up, I deleted it. I can't get it set up and I remember I spent many hours with CMR5 trying to set that up and I never got it right. |

Very odd game I felt, its like we just went back 5 yaers to the likes of hover race or some boat sim not shure realy.
the grafix look sorta awsome for watching but is to much on the eyes for actualy driving, so blurry your think you had way to many pints or a drop of acid witch before a race maybe aint wise.
Had nps downloading or unzipping but as O2blur i spent more time setting up my controler, changed some vid settings witch exit & restarts started a race to find it default back the controls & on keyboard it was very odd feeling.
Reset controler & it felt even worse, CM games just dont seem to like anolog, totaly unresponsive handling even in the touring car, brakes tho stop it on a rl pin head from 140+.
Very odd feeling game is best I can say for it but atleast I think its a change from the last few years reharsh handling they been on.
I played only a tiny amount of each car & rage quit to uninstall , if someone can keep going & try & get the feeling its offering there maybe worth a relook. |

I used the default Logitech G25 wheel settings but couldn't seem to re-map them. I like to move my Brake pedal to the left and Clutch for the middle pedal. So far have been unsuccesful though.
Graphics were of course beautiful, Even played well on my old P4 3.0c nvidia 7800 GS 512 PC.
Odd DiRT ran like crap on it with more than one car on the track.
I did have to turn off or lower the drivers aids to get a better feel for the car,Default (normal) settings were overly responsive. Of course with all Codies games you have to mess with the saturations and dead zones (Brake, Steering) to get them to where you feel comfortible with it, Kind of good and kind of a p.i.t.a at the same time too.
Cars felt to arcade like in normal mode. Have not tried the harder levels as of yet.
Wish they would have left the drifting to EA's NFS series or THQ's Juiced and other more Arcady type games.
As a friend in another forum wrote, Seems Codemasters is targetting the Kids with the Tuner Imports and Drifting fad. Probably from watching it on the Speedtv to much.
Not sure but cars seemed to be in almost a fast forward type of speed,Not that I mind just didn't seem to realistic. They seemed like Formula 1 speeds from there past games.
Knowing this is only a demo and not the final product I'll leave an open mind on it.
But myself having read a lot of reviews and interviews on this game and discussing with others on it in other forums. Doesn't seem to grab our interest as much.
Even us from the States and Canada. Not everyone in the North America's is into this Tuner Drifting thing. It just doesn't feel like racing. But more entertainment.
Taking out the V8 Supercars and DTM's was a huge mistake in my book!
This will hurt the game if anything even in the North Americas.
If they do come out with a one on V8 Supercars Championship game as rumored or thinking about with a full season with all the tracks and cars, I would rather wait and buy that!
The heck with F1 Codies, Give us the V8's!
