Euro Truck Simulator is a truck simulation game set in continental Europe. The player can drive across a realistic depiction of Europe, visiting its beautiful cities, picking up a variety of cargos, and delivering them on time!
The road network in Euro Truck Simulator is based on genuine European roads, and cities in the game bring the essence of their real-world counterparts to the game.
As the game is set in Europe, European truck-designs feature exclusively - all trucks use highly realistic, meticulously detailed models based on real trucks. The truck interiors of Euro Truck Simulator are as equally impressive as the exteriors. With actual working instruments such as flashing indicators, temperature and low fuel warning lights, wipers, and naturally - a full set of gauges including speedometer - all built into the interior 3D model, Euro Truck Simulator offers a truly immersive simulation environment. The player can pan around the cabin, just as if they were actually sitting at the wheel.

This could be very fun if done right. Something that hasn't been attempted for the mass market PC user yet, and definitely nice to see traffic into the equation. And recreating a city environment with real roads etc will be nice too. It's nice to have tracks to drive on, but ever since CORVETTE (Or maybe it was called VETTE back in 1990's on the PC) I have been craving a real city to drive around. Would be nice if your speeding means watching radar for the cops and slowing, etc.. It could be fun if they put time into it. I will be keeping my eye on this one
And if they put all the gears in, make it work well with a G25, and 900degrees of turn etc, could be very fun if done right. Especially if they mimick wet conditions, wipers, and maybe snow-ice, it could be very good. For gearing they could have the buttons for high low etc be in front of the shifter (not a trucker but I know there are different sets of these, not just 6 gears so I hope they do make this realistic or at least an option to have all 16 gears). |

Also, I think making this work well with TrackIR would be essential too. As you have a much greater need to look around than in a race-car. And also for backing up etc would be nice if you could turn your head and watch mirrors, just like in real life etc.
They say they are hoping for a mid-2008 release.
Here is their website for anyone else interested:
https://www.eurotrucksimulator.com/
And if you search for this on you-tube, there are some preview video's (however they do say they are old, but they give you an idea of the truck rocking, the rain and wipers etc). |

I know much about SCS Software sims i play them from time to time. Yup they're simmy in most of the things except physics. Updating physics to level suitable for us simracers is running veeeery slowly in SCS software. Just try and download their latest 18Wheels of Steel series demo and try for Yourselves.
So generally speaking I won't pay too much attention about development of this sim-maybe.
If someone wants to wait for a REAL trucksim he should visit https://rignroll.com/ . There's nothing better coming up on the market of trucksims today. Unfortunately development of this sim started at late 2001 and there were many release dates announced from 2004. Fortunately developing of this sim is really going to an end |
