GP4 Does not start... help?

Hallo everyone!
I just tried installing GP4 on my PC and it won't start. The screen goes black for about 5 seconds and then returns to the desktop. I installed the 9.6 mod and my drivers are up to date. Does anyone know the solution to this problem?

What windows version are you running? If not Win98. Try right clicking exe and pick run in Win98.
That should work. If not you could try some video adjustment.

I tried to install GP4 and it installed OK, but after applying the patch it won't load and says that Direct X needs to be installed. Any ideas?
