Hey everybody!
I've got a little problem with my RBR. Every time i start it, it works for a little while and then suddenly it freezes and brakes down (mostly in the middle or beginning of a stage).
I think, i've got the latest drivers, reinstalled it several times. I don't know what to do.
Can somebody help me please?

when describing a problem you may take some time to describe your pc as well. Cpu, graphic card, audio card, ram as well as operating system and also remember to say if you always had these problems or RBR worked without issues in the past on your pc. You know, there are so many possible hardware and software combinations and problems could be specific for some components and software. |

I installed all availabe plugins...
Ok here are the specs of my pc:
CPU: Intel Pen. 4 2,6 Ghz, 533 Mhz FSB
Graphic: Nvidia Gefore 7600 GT 8x AGP
Ram: 1792 DDR Ram 333 Mhz
Audio: Creative Audigy 2 ZS
System: Windows XP Prof. SP2
I updated my pc with the graphic card and ram, but the game worked well as usual. After some time i reinstalled windows with those new components and after point the game crashed! I reinstalled windows several times, changed nothing

The sound freezes too and starts to play the same sound again and again. I have to say that the game worked with the sound card very well, before i had this strange issue

Man, the same happened here, but with Dirt, It would freeze but after 30 sec it would keep going... how long did you wait before the reset?
BTW did you updated your SC drivers or tried to play without it?

OK, this is killing my nerves! I tried to play with my onboard sound and anything changed at all!!! I had some situations with my audigy, where the game freezed for some seconds and suddenly it moved on, but then i had many many graphical errors...
Anyway, playing with the onboard sound or with my audigy doesn't work out.

Did you try to deactivate sound on RBR settings? I mean in the configuration window not in RBR. Just to see if it's a problem with the sound or is related to other hardware\software components on your pc. Also, did this situation started with the hardware upgrade you made or was it consequent to some upgrade in your drivers, you know, sometimes new drivers just bring new problems. |

I tried to deactivate sound in the RichardBurnsRally.ini, but the funny thing is, that it played the sound in the game like i've changed nothing. Am I on Punk'd ???
The situation is this, upgraded my hardware and played the game without errors. After some time i had to reinstall my windows and at that time the game didn't work anymore. So i updated my drivers, but i can't tell you if i installed newer drivers than before.

I guess I have the same problem here. The game crashes after 30 secs to 5 mins and crashes 95% of the time which makes the game unplayable. But later I figured out that just before the game crashes there is a hissing sound and that made think it was a sound related problem. I made some research and found out that lowering sound acceleration slider to basic acceleration in dxdiag options fixes the problem. It is very annoying to that everytime though.
I hope it helps. |

My problem got solved thanks to Eidos support. I sent them a dxdiag file and they told me that it could be the sound card driver. I was using an updated one, so I rolled back to the original (the one came with the card itself). I have no problems now |

M8s...damn...I've guess I've the same error.
Sometimes my RBR works fine, sometimes it freezes after minutes and sometimes during choosing profile.
I have disabled directx sound acceleration but nothing change...
tried to use usesoftwareaudio=true in richardburnrally.ini but sound is very ...ehm...shitty...
disabled EAX....nothing...
Someone can help me?
My "baby":
M/B Asus A8N sli
CPU AMD Athlon 64 3500+
RAM 2GB corsair dual channel ddr 400
VGA ATI Radeon X1650 pro 256MB pci-x
Sata system, 160GB where RBR is installed, 80GB raid 1 where O.S. works
Windows xp professional Service pack 2
Directx 9.0c
Onboard audio 6.1 realtek.
All drivers are the latest available.
My RBR installation is a sort of test...I have a lot of mods installed. Maybe audio.dat can create problems if it is too large? Mine is 89MB...
Thanks community!

@delu: attach the crash dump file(s), you should find it(them) in RBR's main directory after a ctd, the extension is ".dmp".
