Hey all:
My brother just got an 19" viewsonic widescreen monitor and I was wondering if there's a way to play the game without the so-stretched-cars. I've tried tinkering with the shortcut settings trying to make it work in windowed mode, but to no avail, and worse... game loads but wont work.
I can reinstall, np, but would like to see if there's a trick or something for this to work. It would be nice if it could work at the 4:3 resolution even if I were forced to see the black bars on the sides.
BTW, its been a long while... looks like the times I tried to come to the website it was either down or I was having problems with my ISP, but after some weeks... I gave up and today while I was looking for this help over google, led me to the racesimcentral and there I got a link to here... so, imagine my happiness

I was checking the files in SCGT directory and came upon this video.cfg file that has this on its contents:

Guess I found why didnt work in windowed mode, but now, as I see these resolutions... can't help but thinking if we could insert or alter one of them and make it work?
For now, I'll just try the windowed test and will post results. After that I shall try altering one of these for 1280x720.

Ok, that file even though is not read-only dont work well. Looks like that SCGT generates it somehow during init, tried setting windowed to 1 and then save, start game, exist (as it didnt work) and back to the file it was set at zero again.
Another thing I noted is that 1024x768 res is giving me trouble, the game wont start at all, but if I downgrade to 800x600 it works fine, this happened also in my main PC which doesnt have a widescreen monitor, but is odd, I remember having the game once at 1024 and I didnt liked how the times were displayed so I switched it back to 800.
