Hey all, i have just picked up a new system, (specs below) and i have been trying to get NR2k3 to run on it.

My problems are the following:

First, using openGL, i cant keep stable frame rates. I start off with an FPS of about 150 or so, while running maxed out (42 ahead and behind, full draw ahead, and all options checked off in 1920x1080x32)but that slowly drops and within a minute or so, i am down to 8 or 9 at the most. For example, if i am running at daytona, i can get out of the pits and through turns 1 and 2, but by the time i am 1/2 way down the backstretch, the frames are down to 11 and change, and continue to drop. Now i know that even in traffic i should be keeping a steady 50 or so, but i cant for the life of me, figure out why they just drop off so fast.
I have tried to run in Dx, but that causes another problem; I cant seem to get the blurry car textures to go away, at any cost. But at least the frames are up there.

The other issue i am getting is that the AA dosent seem to be working, even at 16x levels.. i still get a very jaggie like for the top of the wall. This is in both OGL and DX.
I have tweaked the core, player and ogl files, but no luck.

I also double chcked if the drivers were up to date, and they are. I even tried to roll them back, and to use the beta versions from Nvidia, but no joy.
The system is only 4 days old, but i still went and looked for motherboard, bios, and for any other drivers that could be out of date but they are all up to the latest versions.

The temps are all low (liquid cooled Video and CPU).

I went and tried the compatability modes for XP but no joy either.



My system specs are :

Intel Core2 QX6850 over clocked to 3.67GHz (quad core with 8MB cache)
4GB of DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz
Dual 768 GeForce 8800 Ultras in Sli mode viewed through a 24"Widescreen
320GB 10000 RPM Hard Drive (2 of WD's 160 gig Raid 0's at 1.5gb/s)
X-Fi PCI Sound Card with Logitech 5.1 surround speakers
Ageia PhysX Processor
48X Combo and 16X DVD+/-RW drives
1 kilowatt Power Supply
Windows Vista home premium


I have patched the game, and even done complete delete and re-installs to see if the mods i add are doing anything to cause it, but no joy.
I appreciate any and all advice and help you folks can provide me. Thanks for your time.

I can tell you that I get about 1/3 the FPS in open GL that I do in D3D. In D3D i run from 70-150 FPS and in open GL 25-45 FPS with all eye candy turned on at 1680 x 1050 x 32bit color.

I know you said you did the player file tweak but here it is again. This got rid of the blurry textures I was getting from the COT mods: Open the Player file
Look for the line that reads

[Graphic Opitions]
texture_quality= -1

Change this number to a value between -1 and 100 for a increase in picture quality. This will give some performance hit, but the increase in eyecandy is well worth it.

[Graphic Opitions]
texture_quality= 100

Good luck, I know game issues are a pain. Nice system by the way. I just built my new puter about a week ago and had the blurry issue until I did that tweak.

i did all of that before i posted my problem and none of those work.

Its getting really furstrating, because it ran perfectly on my DC alienware, and wont run 1/2 as good on a system that is basically 2 times more powerful.
