Codemasters, Inc. today announced that DiRT, the highly anticipated off-road racing game, is shipping to retail outlets nationwide for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC, with the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system edition to follow shortly. DiRT is rated "E" (Everyone) by the ESRB. Developed by Codemasters Studios using its new propriety engine, Neon, DiRT takes traditional rally and turns it into an exhilarating thrill ride through a massive range of off-road racing experiences on gravel, mud and dirt, right across the globe.

Expanding on the brilliant point-to-point rally racing, the game includes an extensive range of off road and circuit events, delivering a thrilling, often challenging and ultimately hugely rewarding experience.

Players race in challenging, heavyweight 850bhp cars through high speed blind corners and along perilous cliff edges in the Hill Climb events, including the world famous Pikes Peak International through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

There are also multiple car races with Dakar-style trucks and super-powered 4x4s on grueling desert terrain in Rally Raid competitions. In Rally Cross, players switch between dirt and road racing. The competition is always breathing down your neck and always ruthless.

Then there are Crossover circuits and events from the CORR (Championship Off -Road Racing) series in the U.S. The CORR series is all about head-to-head full on dirt circuit racing. The combination of powerful off-road buggies and exciting dirt tracks incorporating tabletop jumps, drop-offs and moguls is an intoxicating mix.

DiRT also offers a dedicated rally championship section and the opportunity to race against others and the clock with a 100-person online multiplayer mode. In any mode, on any surface, the car handling is sublime, the physics system is thrillingly accurate and the damage engine is as devastating as ever.

Get up to speed with the Xbox 360 playable demo now available from Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PC demo, along with videos and product information, available from https://www.codemasters.com/dirt

Maybe the most entertaining arcade racer ever. This and Flatout2 are true party games for those who can oversee the complete lack of realism and just enjoy the fun.

I seriously need cheats for this one.
Haven't got the xx weeks and xx hours it takes to get the good cars unlocked!

A REAL sim like GTR lets you drive ANYTHING - because that is what you want! Here: A lousy FIAT PUNTO! hmmm

I HATE when they do that!! Evil or Very Mad

Cheat codes anyone? Wink

"In any mode, on any surface, the car handling is sublime, the physics system is thrillingly accurate ."

How can they dare?

I fell for it again, hoping the 'Pro/Sim' mode would be different.

I've got nothing against arcade games, just stop telling us how realistic it is going to be when it clearly isn't.

Well, ya gotta be careful whose opinions you trust, ya know. Its pretty much a fact that 99% of the game reviewers out there who spend most of their time playing shooters and RPGs wouldn't know what realistic physics were until it bit their weenie, so you must make your purchase only if the review of a site like BHMS or SimHQ approves of it, or a majority of your fellow simracers do. Wink

It's very annoying how most of those reviewers review the XBox version and then just pass it off like "the PC version is just the same." It isn't!!!

The controls and steering with my G25 wheel were just atrocious! Has anyone bought the full version of the game? Have they done anything about the awful controls? Maybe the PC version was designed just for keyboard driving??!!!

I bought the full version, I also use the G25 wheel and the handling is just as atrocious as the demo.

I understand what you say Sandeep, and I agree that I should've waited to see what other sim racers thought of the game.

It can take a while though - not many people from the sim community want to risk wasting their money on a game like this anymore, so it can take a long time for decent info about the full game to appear.

Anyway, I won't make the same mistake again.

DIRT is on the shelf, simply because I cant take it back to the shop for a refund.

you've been "codemastered" Smile

if the low post count in cmr section here, or the high number of complains on codemasters-dirt official board doesnt hints you, just go for torrent release... yeah that shit is illegal but so it should be the release of bad games from big developers which gets bombastic reviews. Sad

So you have that answer above.

And while I've only played the demo for the X360 version, I can tell you from all the posts I've read that the full console version also is almost unplayable with the MS FF x360 wheel.

It seems Cm kind of forced the people with steering wheels into the back seat this time. No sale, No way.

I have a g25, decent processor: core 2 duo e6700, and low end to decent graphics card: 7900gs. I tried the game in high rez and while beautiful, steering lag completely destroyed it. Then I reduced the game rez to 800x600 turned motion blur off and shadows to med/low/off. I retried it. Steering lag disappeared and game became very playable. Resist the temptation to play in high rez and you will be rewarded.
