OK, maybe it's just me but this really bothers me. . . so much that I stopped playing rFactor. I have to first say that the game is very nice in that you can install a lot of mods! The graphics are very good as well.
The issue for me is the way the car drives. It's like they pivot on the back wheels when you turn the car and it doesn't seem real at all. The steering just feels odd. When you watch a replay you can see this happening better but I really feel it in the way the car drives.
OK, am I crazy here? (I'm sure I'm opening myself up for a few people to call me crazy). Smile
Thoughts?

Man...

I think youre crazy, you better go to see a doctor... hehe.
No, I've been driving a lot of sim racing games such as gtr,gtr2,lfs,rbr,race and few older games and I have to say that ractor is one of the best I've ever driven. I think its the most realistic driving feeling that you can have, unless you have a force feedback wheel!!! I really dont know what youre talking about for the replay, I find rFactor replay freaking close to reality...

haha! Smile Well, this is the kind of feedback I was looking for. Maybe I should drive it again (however, since I have a new PC, I guess I'll have to go out and get it again).

Don´t like the isi engine much, it´s got sluggish response to steering input wich ruins the whole driving experience, GTR suffers from the same problem...
It doesn´t matter if you change steering sensitivity etc.. Problem remains..
If someone knows how to fix this, let me know.....
I use a logitech G25 by the way....

Kind of agree with you, I bought rfactor based on the review in Autosimsport. But I never liked the feel of the steering. For me rbr and lfs have a more natural feel to the steering, even when the wheels are in traction.

When the first version of lfs S2 came out the tire grip physics where just wrong, but even with this the steering felt right. GTL and GTR2 both use the ISI engine and to me suffer the same problem, but for some reason they feel better than rfactor.

WallC, I agree with you, 100%!!! I think it has to do with the old GPL school of sim driving. if the car is not hard to drive and sliding all over the place, then it is not "realistic." In general, most of the mod and original cars feel like they are artificially difficult to drive. A real car does not slide all over the place like that, especially a super race car with slicks, etc.

The 2 cars that do feel right to me in rFactor are the trainer and the new Lambo mod. Aside from those, GTR2 feels much more like what a real car should drive like to me.

This is my opinion and I know that many will disagree.

I've been playing GTR2 since it came out. I think as of today, that is the most realistic sim out there. It has it's flaws but overall, I think it's the best.

Did you know that the GTR2 engine is a less enhanced version of the rfactor engine? They are both created by the same people:) Only the car physics values are different and GTR2 physics are flawed in many respects:P there are more realistic sims out there:)

Regarding the steering lag, this was tied to fps i heard, however it has been patched so the wheel polls at the same rate no matter what...maybe try it again to see if the problem remains.
