Hey there.

Ive been a fan of the Namco MotoGP series on the ps2 aswell as the climax series on PC/Xbox. However i would like to branch out into more moto games such as SBK2001, Isle of Man TT etc.

Just wondering if i could have some opinions on what would be ethe best buy?

Thanks..

Sbk2001 is a great game for pc,thers also gp500 for pc, Old but still good bike game, TTsuperbikes for ps2 is good too{sense of speed is excellent), and soon to come out in usa is tourist trophy for ps2 (gran turismo with bikes), the only bad one out there I think is riding spirits for ps2. the proper sims r sbk2001,gp500, almost proper sim tourist trophy(only race 3bikes at same time), ttsuperbikes comes across a touch arcadey after playing tourist trophy, but id highly recommend it for a blast round the isle of man. thats just my opinion tho.

I tried the demo for SBK2001, can't get it to work. Ive heard that this isnt an uncommon problem and that theres a patch for the full game that makes it work with XP. Is this the case?

You mention the PS2, so I "assume" you have Tourist Trophy? If not, you are missing the best MC sim to date.

SBK2001 was the best anyone could do back then, but is severely lacking in real world physics when compared to modern Tourist Trophy. Low-sides scare me like it was really happening in that game.

SBK exibits allot of canned physics and crashes, despite EA's claims. And the handling is so molassas slow, that every motorcyclist in the world would be dead if real bikes handled that way. Real motorcycles flick left to right extremely fast even at 100mph. Not so in SBK series.

Be prepared for what feels like control lag as you have to initiate dirrection changes long before you actually arrive there. I don't reccommend any of the SBK series (have 99 & 2001). I've also played GP500 demo and it is well, meh.

An odd-ball game also on the PS2 is Riding Spirts, which models the tire traction limits on bikes to unbelievable perfection. But that is all it does well. The game is extreeeeemely difficult to play, because anything that would put you down in real life is what happens in the game. If you even touch part of the asphault that has dirt on it and you are down hard. The game sucks for that reason because you spend the entire lap picking yourself up off the ground.
