Choose from 30 vehicles the one that you consider to suit best to conquer the vast wilderness. And attention, with Grand Raid Offroad you will definitely be facing vastness:
Beautiful landscapes, as far as the eye can see, where the driver has to decide on his very own which way will lead him to the finish line faster than his adversaries. Breathtaking realism behind the steering wheel as well: A game play orienting itself at classical rally titles, paired with complete freedom of orientation in landscapes measuring more than 10 000 square km (3500 square miles) with new challenges for the player behind every bend.
Features:
- Rivers, forests, mountains or deserts: Hugh high definition landscapes with more than 10 000 square kilometres, each fully modelled.
- Up to 20 000 km of vast roads, highways or walkways per track.
- Trucks, pickups SUVS: 30 fully adjustable 4WD vehicles with complete damage simulation.
- 6 worlds totalling more than 40 tracks
- Several game modes: Raid or course, but also race, specials, free run stunt, catch the flag, keep the flag, baja.
- Climatic changes in real-time
- A wonderful environment due to realistically generated biospheres
- Every place is unique, as every tree, every rock or cloud.
- Online.

If you base the physics off Screamer 4x4, or make it more realistic than that, you should be headed in the right direction.
One thing I loved about Screamer 4x4, is how real the diff's acted when locked, unlocked, 4wd, etc. Made it fun trying to get through a hard section up a mountain in the rain using just the rear in low, locked up.
Too bad it won't run on my new system, hopefully this will be better!
Another thing I loved about Screamer was the real-like cockpits. Moving guages, etc. I can guarantee you if you don't provide a cockpit view (with dashboard, speedo, tach, etc), I will not be buying this game, no matter what features/graphics you put into it. Too many claim realism, and then their idea of a cockpit view is a bug on the bumper, with a tach drawn on the screen. Please make it more real!
I want to feel like I am really in the seat, and be able to see the wheel, dash, etc. Any other view for me while driving, just feels arcadish. |

Boy, this is ambitious. That's a lot of terrain.
I wouldn't compare it too much with screamer, the racing is very different. This is dakar style long distance rally, not pootling up cliffs at 3kmh. You won't often find yourself flicking though the transfer case, and the top speed these things manage is insane (about 180km/h... on bumpy dirt!). I think they'd be much better off with a RBR style physics engine, with internal lockable diffs.
It'll be more about managing the route to avoid "bad terrain", and not smash the bejeesus out of the vehicle.
I really hope they can pull this off, it's a mammoth task.
BTW, as awesome as screamer 4x4 was (i still drive it today), the one thing that bugged me was the way the truck would slide slowly on any surface that wasn't dead flat. Apart from that it was near perfect though... |

I'm gonna laugh so hard if there is 10,000 square kms and no birds or wild life around. |

60000 km2 of terrain sounds a tad ambitious and the video looks as though there is no damage and trees and fences don't stop you, I can't see any financial sense in this so I expect it will turn out like XR. |
