an old one this form 99 or 2000 I'm not sure... It's called "Rally Championship" or "Mobil 1 British Rally Championship" to give it is full title. It was developed by the legendary (Amiga Software House) Magnetic Fields, it's the Rally sim with the 30min courses... Anyway I bought it on a budget and boy It's still great!
Does anyone out there still play it ? if so are you interested in Multiplayer Rallies? or does a dedicated community allready exist?
please help! lost sheep!

Nobody's come up with full-length stages in a rally sim since then, and regardless of the iffy physics RC2000 / MRC is great fun. It takes a little work to interface with some of the newer systems and controllers, but it's worth the effort.
I still play it occasionally when I get tired of all the five-minute stages in every other rally sim on the market. |

Ok, I downloaded the demo, because I have heard talk of this game everywhere...and even though its a demo with only two stages, it seemed to be pretty fun. Lots of damage features. The only thing that bothered me, and this may not be so in the full version, was the fact that the road was sunk down like it was in a ditch the whole race....I felt like I was in a tunnel, and if I slid off track, the grass slowed me down like it was glue or something. Fun stages though, I may pick up a copy off ebay just for the hell of it....

I dusted my old copy of Mobil 1 rally to install it on my new system, it is indeed a great game, but it turned frustrating and I am about to uninstall because I havenĀ“t been able to set the controller the way I want, I keep ending up with all sorts of weird configs in the game for the steering wheel I have, which renders the game unplayable since it requires full control of the car. Can you help with this?. I have a Enzo Ferrari Force feedback thrustamaster wheel. Your help will be greatly appreciated.[/quote] |

RC2000 has 36 stages and they are very different. Try them all, and you won't be bothered.

You can disable this "feature". Search Google for 'ral.cfg'

Some of the stages are like you described "driven in a ditch" but there are the opposite too... I don't know what stages there was in the demo but you will have stages that lasts up to 20 minutes (In the Pirelli Rally).
The "Sticky grass" and much more can be disabled/enabled by editing the ral.cfg-file.

Well this was cosmic or something because I have just re-installed Mobil 1 Rally Championship after several years. I have it all patched to 5.290, have the slippery grass turned on but damn I cannot get my Xbox 360 Controller for PC to talk to the game properly. Anyone have an idea how to get this to work properly? I have a wheel but I'm unable to use the pedals anymore so I've adopted the Xbox controller as my racing controller. It actually works pretty well in all other games but of course I suspect that this game is so old it would have problems. Any help would *really* be appreciated.
UPDATE: Never mind... I didn't have the latest patch and when I got it 5.30 it had the instructions in the readme to set up the two axis joystick which allowed my gamepad to work. |

Interesting: I have the old xbox controller hooked up with a USB plug and it works fine on all versions, although sometimes theres a lag in it being recognized at the startline. Good that you got it sorted out.
I have another problem though that I was wondering if anyone else had heard of with Mobil 1, in that my laptop keyboard is extremely sensitive in game. Basically when I touch a key it reacts as if I'm holding it down for 10 secs, skipping menu choices or repeating letters I input. As I said, my controller works fine, so once I get to the race there's no problem, but navigating the menus is a chore. I'm assuming it has to do with the age of the game/that it's built for UK keyboards (Im in the US) but does anyone have any idea about this? |

It's always been a bit sensitive on the menus.
Sometimes lowering the priority helps.
