VRC has launched VRC v2.0, the spectacular new version of Virtual RC Racing. The r/c car racing sim has reached another unprecedented level of realism with the addition of computer controlled opponent cars. You can now practice and race with up to 9 AI cars. They are real opponents, they will take any opportunity to pass you when they can, but also move over when you manage to get your car inside of them. VRC was already known as the ultimate r/c practice tool, with the AI cars you can now also practice the way you handle traffic. AI cars will also show up on the track during race events and Daily Challenge runs, so you will no longer be alone on the track. This will get your adrenaline pumping even more
The second major improvement is the new zoom mode. With v2.0 you will really feel like being on the rostrum. You can now control the near and the far zoom yourself to get the best possible view on the track. Another spectacular feature is the addition of Drifter cars. They are a real challenge to master the art of drifting around hairpins, and in a fluent powerslide to the next corner. Very satisfying when you get it right! Other features and improvements are less visible but are nevertheless very significant. The physics engine has been improved, resutling in even more realsitic car handling, better collision handling, improved framerate and last but not least much approved stability. Internet connectivity between game and database has been vastly improved and made more user friendly.
Major changes and improvements can also be found on the website www.virtualrc.com. Besides a new interface the most important structural change is on the track pages. The track page is now the center of the action. You go there to view the track, see set-ups for that track, check Daily Challenge results, meet other racers in the track forum and more. A very nice feature is the countdown clock for race events, telling you exactly how many days, hours etc. you have till the next event or till the next round in that event.
Virtual RC Racing can now be downloaded from the VRC website. It is free and comes with the RC Speedway and Oslo track. The new version is not downward compatible with v1.0 so a complete download of the installation pack and the tracks is required. Check out all the new features and download v2.0 now.
Release Notes 2.0
New tracks
With the release of v2.0 we have released 2 new tracks: Cincinnati 2003 and the long awaited Heemstede track in the Netherlands. Check out these track pages.
New bodies
We have also posted a number of new car bodies, among them the new drifter car Vipers, a series of Kyosho Lola's and sedans, and a few more 1:10 scale Lola's.
Set-ups
Your old set-ups are still compatible with v2.0 but as the track conditions have changed you might need to work on new set-ups for each track. For that reason we have moved all the posted set-ups to our Archive.
Daily Challenge results
All the old Daily Challenge results have been moved to archive. As track conditions have changed, and with the introduction of the AI cars the Daily Challenge results will certainly fall back a bit.
Credit card payment
This system is not fully implemented yet, we expect this within nthe next couple of weeks. So until then only PayPal is accepted.
