Here is something interesting to notice:
RT track mesh is VERY similar to RBR mesh. RT uses 2x2m resolution, and RBR uses ~1.25x3m resolution. This is much higher than many other games, such as CMR, which uses polies as big as 6m (ON THE ROAD SURFACE!!)

The main difference is that WartHog has been much more careful in creating realistic surface shapes, such as crowned roads and round shoulders, and very carefully created irregularities. This requires much more time to make, as nearly every poly must be moved by hand, rather than just extruded, but we can see that the end result is worth the effort.

Mudsnow - it looks like you post at RGC has been lost (unless I was dreaming that you posted this same stuff over there!).

Coupla things........when a mesh is exported from RBR does the track retain it's mapping and know which material number was applied to which part? If it does it would be quite easy to apply BB materials and convert for RT.

I have wondered if they make (or partly make) the tracks by using a displace modifer. For those that don't know, a displace modifier uses a bitmap (like and aerial photograph or topographical map for example) to make a mesh deform to resemble the surface on the photo. All you need is to have a monochrome graduation with, say, white being highest and black being lowest points with all level in between various shades of grey.

I have not tried this, but it seems to me that a good map with shading for various heights could create a accurate copy of a real stage.
