If you're interested in trying NASCAR Heat MODs, add-on tracks and/or carsets, then you don't need to have neither demo nor full version of NASCAR Heat installed. "NASCAR Heat Essentials" is a package of base files which are required to run mods, tracks and even carsets. It will take care of everything add-ons need. You're not even restricted to racing offline, you can race online with your friends in any mod as well.

The package is patched up to the latest version 1.80, and will bring you all the features of NASCAR Heat as of February 2005.

It also has a very basic built in MOD Launcher. It will detect all installed MODs and carsets and will let you launch any mod from the list.

Note that this will work ONLY for add-on MODs, tracks and carsets, you won't be able to play neither full original version of NASCAR Heat nor the demo with these files. If you want to check out just the demo, then you don't need this package.
Otherwise, get "NASCAR Heat Essentials" at the MOD Squad and enjoy all the great add-ons for NASCAR Heat!

https://www.themodsquad.uni.cc/

Go to Downloads -> "NASCAR Heat Essentials" to download the installer.

Read the onscreen instructions during installation (you'll be able to access them after installation as well), download some mods (at least one), some tracks (at least one) and go racing!

Yes, exactly, to all 3 points. You don't need anything else, it's already patched.

Step1. Install Essentials
Step2. Install track(s)
Step3. Install MOD(s)
Step4. Go racing

Wink

Mod's all work, tracks all load.. amazing!!!!! Now for a triple amazing kudos, but will need some help on it... I get the garage option with the heat 2005 mod, but no garage option for the rest of the mod's. Simple Q from a simple person.

Hey guys, glad to see you're enjoying it and that actually more and more folks use it to try the Heat mods, this is really nice.

Now greenie, could you please post the error log which you are obviously getting when you get a CTD? It rarely happens when Heat CTD at track loading time, because usually it happens when track is in development and track maker would experience such crashes (because of the bug in track he's working on). It would help us identify the problem.

Thanks for posting, guys.

Ahh yes, that's a known problem and it's specific to this mod, and it's not a problem with Essentials. One file is missing in mod's ui.res file (RaceArc.lyt) which is why you're getting this CTD. I'm attahing this file to this post, you will need to download it and add it manually yourself to ui.res. The steps:

1) download RaceArc.zip;
2) unzip it;
3) use rescrack.exe to unpack ui.res (util available here at BHMS)
command line : rescrack.exe ui.res
4) put extracted (from RaceArc.zip) RaceArc.lyt file with all extracted files from ui.res
5) find reslist.txt among all files, open it with notepad and add this filename below:
RaceArc.lyt
6) use mkres.exe to pack it back up (util available here at BHMS)
command line : mkres.exe ui.res @reslist.txt

that's it Smile It's just that maybe before unpacking ui.res move it to a temp folder and do everything there

Good luck, let us know if you need anything else.

RaceArc.zip - 562 KB

Eventually found and downloaded the Utility(Restools.htm) you mentioned. The
readme lists rescrack.exe and MKres.exe but only the MKres.exe utility is included in the file.Where do I go from here?

Well, I can't imagine where you DL'd the STCC mod from. That racearc.lyt error was discovered almost right after the mod was released. Also a strange one in that some people had a problem and some didn't.

Any way, that's not the point. The UI.RES was updated early August of last year. Like I said, where'd you get the mod??

Soooo...

You can DL the complete "fixed" mod here. Or, just the fixed UI.RES.

https://www.texasspeedracing.com/files.shtml

It will be the top box in the middle when you open page. Smile Good luck and keep posting if you don't get it working.

Although the MK tools are handy little thingy's to have, might I suggest the WinResTools? It will crack Res files and make Res files. It's also quite handy if you get involved in Heat editing for 'other functions'. It can be found here:

https://www.texasspeedracing.com/files.shtml

Yup, same page down at the bottom Smile lol
