Virtual RC Racing is the new radio controlled car racing simulator from Virtual Racing Industries. Created by a team of international game developers, including Tony West of West Racing, this PC based sim is set to take the sport of r/c car racing by storm. Aimed at current r/c racers, Virtual RC Racing is also set to appeal to newcomers as it offers the perfect training tool for this high speed technical sport.
Every aspect of r/c racing has been precisely modelled to give players a life like racing experience. Graphics, sound, control and game play are so realistic r/c racers can use Virtual RC Racing to prepare for the real thing. Featuring a sophisticated vehicle dynamics engine, which gives true to life car handling, users can experiment with set-up and test the results on the worlds top r/c tracks including the circuit used for the 2004 World Championships in Brazil. This level of realism helps develop the users understanding of the effects of set-up changes on a real r/c track.
Available from the simulators official web site www.virtualrc.com, users download for FREE the full version game software and moments later they have all the excitement of r/c racing on their PC.
While Virtual RC Racing can be played using regular game controllers, Virtual Racing Industries have developed a VRC-USB adapter for the ultimate game play experience. This allows users to control the 3D sim using an actual r/c transmitter. The only thing missing is the smell of the nitro fuel! With all of the sports major manufacturers represented in the sim, a big feature of Virtual RC Racing is the option for r/c racers to select the very same car, engine, tyre, fuel and radio combination as they use in real r/c competition. This combination can be used to challenge fellow racers and gamers from around the world for the ultimate prize of becoming the 2005 Virtual R/C Racing World Champion.
Free Daily Challenges offer racers the opportunity to practice for major online events for which players require a Virtual RC Racing License. These start at just US$22.00 and allow players gain a World Ranking. Other exciting add-ons for the sim include additional tracks, which replicate some of the best r/c circuits in the world, and these are available for only US$6.00 each. Although a specialist simulator, the creators of Virtual RC Racing expect a large numbers of gamers to go head to head with experienced r/c racers in the online competitions - Racers Start your PCs.

I'm curios as to what the price is for the VRC transmitter adapter. I was a 10th scale racer for three years bu the hobby got way too expensive for my tastes. Spending $100 on a set of race tires and rims that will only be good for half a dozen races gets old real fast. Then there's the the hyped drivers that get all excited because they can't keep up so they cross over corner markers and t-bone you at full speed, causing another $100 damage.
This VRC game may d be the way to then. I still have all my equipment and it would be great to control the cars like they were ment to be...with a transmitter. I have Big Scale RC Racing but it is a twitchy mess to control. |

Thanks, I signed up at their website main page (that's all there is) a few months ago to be notified when the game was ready, but I have never heard from them. Now I can't even access the site. |

I've been on the beta team for the last three months and I can assure you that most every RC'er will love this one. From the beginner to the pro, I think you will all like it. This program is more of a tool for the RC racer than a game or even a simulator for the PC. If you are just beginning in RC, it will help you learn what the different settings like camber and caster do to your car, and if you are a seasoned Veteran it is a very good way to get track time with your transmitter in your hands. You know the old saying practice, practice, practice.
To answer the question about the USB adapter that lets you use your transmitter, it is $36.00 plus shipping and is very much worth the price. Not only does it make the program and cars more stable than keyboards or other controllers, but to be able to have all the settings that your own transmitter has tops it off. Things like exponential and ABS brakes that are on the modern transmitters will also work inside the program so make sure you have a couple extra sets of transmitter batteries on charge because you will find out they dont last very long when you spend hour after hour running on the tracks.
Unfortunately there is no multiplayer at this time but the designers are working on it and should be added to the program in time.
As of last weekend, we were informed that it would be released on November 19th and will be a free download at https://www.virtualrc.com . The download pack will include everything you need to get going including all the cars and one track. When you sign up to their web site, you will be able to download another track for free but it looks like the rest of the tracks will cost $6.00 each. The beta version has only 7 tracks but I understand there will be more as time goes on. From what I hear there may be more cars coming and you will be able to buy a car that has your own paint job on it but there will probably not be any home made paint jobs like in other Sims if ya know what I mean. To be able to race in the time trial events with other people online, you will have to buy a license.. Just being a beta tester, Im not sure what the final release will have but there may be a half year racing license and a one year racing license that will let you race with the online community. From what I understand the one year license will cost about $22.00. The results from the daily challenges and other online events are posted at the web site in real time from racers that are online and inside the simulator, and the by-standers that are looking at the web site will be able to see how races are shaping up by looking at the elapsed times and number of laps that are being posted. Just like real life RC racing, there will also be a fee for entering into an online event but I believe it will be free to current license holders or will cost credits. You will be able to buy credits at the online store or you can accumulate credits by racing in the online events and being a part of their ranking system. I am not entirely sure but from what it looks like during the beta testing, that the credits will be bought in groups like 50 credits for $0.15 cents, and 20 credits for $0.10 cents and 10 credits for $0.05 cents. Like I said, things might change when it is released but thats how much they are at this time. And lastly all the online charges will be going through PayPal so you will probably also need to have a PayPal account to compete in the online community. I hope that gives some of you a little insight to how the program or game or simulator or whatever you want to call it will have when it is released.
If you have any questions feel free to ask at or go to the https://www.avatarsbymas.com/vrc/index.php message board and see whats happnen
Oh and by the way, if you click on the images on thier front page there are some video clips from inside the program

I just received an e-mail that said VRC is due out this Sunday 11/26/04. They say that you can order the transmitter interface controller at their website, but it is still not up yet. So you won't be able to get the control until sometime after the game launch I guess. |

Hey Mas,
Since your doing beta testing, and your more in the know than the web site (still not functional), are they going to allow people to make custom tracks and whatnot? All the tracks look pretty sweet, but it really doesn't do much for us indoor racers (I race (if that's what you want to call it), on a 100x50 indoor asphalt track (R/C Skrews Speedway). But since I work afternoons, it makes it harder for me to get practice in, and this looks like the ticket.
Thanx |
