If the career mode sounds like too much work, you can also take part in racing seasons where your only concern is the racing itself. If you simply want to jump right into some quick action, you can compete in single races on any of the current NASCAR circuits (though not all the fantasy tracks found in the console versions of the game).

Pretty unbiased review from a site that is heavily involved in the Multiplayer side of the game. I hope that ISI will address the graphics problem that not only i (and others) have, but also the reviewer.
