If you decide to buy the full version, I wouldn't get it this way. This method helped kill Saturday Night Speedway. The CD store bought versions tend to be incompatible online with these purchased upgraded trials and you also can't use any patches on them because trygames (which companies have been using to distribute these upgradable trials) modifies the executable file.
You can find the CD version of this game for $10 U.S. at places like amazon.com
I've been meaning to check this game out. I liked Bugbear's Rally Trophy much more than any other Rally sim. This is also the bunch making Flat Out, which looks like lots of fun. |

Very nice game. I can see that the bugbear has made it (makers of rally trohpy).
+nice damage modeling
+nice driving model
+graphics are good (low price game)
-limited adjustments for cars
-limited views
-needs more races and modes
-was there a multiplayer..? |

There was no multiplayer, as it was a budget title from start to finish.. And completed in something like 4 months

I wonder if this is modable or compatible with anything in Rally trophy. |

Hit the C key to adjust the camera view.
I also found that when you are painting in the garage that you have to press the button on the background while moving the mouse to rotate the truck so you can paint the other side.
They did a great job on this game. |

I really enjoy this type of racing. I bought the game last night and have been pretty impressed with the game considering the price.
One thing that really lets this game down is when you are slide through a corner it seems to turn off your accelerator just like traction control which means you can't powerslide around corners. It's a pretty major physics flaw if you ask me, BUT, I do like the physics besides that.
I played this all bloody night I love it. I just hope there are possibilities of patchs or mods fixing what I call "traction control" |

The same thing happens if you end up with your nose to a wall. It's best to first back straight up for a second and then use your momentum while you turn the wheel. Recovering from this or spinouts takes forever. I agree that really needs to be fixed. Other than that and no ability to play online, the game is great.
This game uses .bzf files for the tracks and vehicles like Rally Trophy does. It is probably possible to import the tracks and maybe the truck models into RT. It may not be possible to get the physics, handling, and damage right though. At least it might be playable online. |

Adjusting camera views would require hacking the files open.. I'm not sure about all the differences between RT and TT regarding tracks, but cars have a different system to them.. It would be possible to import them to RT, I'm sure, but it'd require some serious renaming, merging, adjusting and all kinds of extra stuff in Max. I'm pretty sure that applies to the tracks as well.
Not to mention all the general .ini file differences |

This is actually quite an addictive little game. Enjoyed the demo so I bought a copy out of a local bargain bin for under $10.00 (US). While the physics are no where near sim level, they are close enough to be fun. In fact, the way the trucks handle when you get the bigger suspension systems and tires vs handling in the beginning is noticably different. Once you reach that point, you must be cautious not to flip the vehicle as it becaome quite top heavy.
The only strategic issue you really have is which truck to choose and when to upgrade to what. The upgrade path is critical as, for example, you might have a problem if you upgrade your engine when you really needed to upgrade your suspension because the next track has a lot of jumps.
I guess my main complaint, and only reservation, is that the game plays much too quickly. I completed all the tracks throught the championship (including bonus races) in just a few hours. Better value than a movie, but less than what I have come to expect from a PC game. They give you several trucks to choose from, and I guess you could run the championship with each, but somehow after the first run-thru it seems to lose its appeal.
If you can find this game cheap (the $20 bucks they want for full version online upgrade is too much, IMHO), buy it. It is a blast to play.
Oh -
And if you decide to upgrade from the demo online, the upgrade is only good for 5 installs. A friend liked mine so much he downloaded the demo and upgraded it on the spot. I'm getting this upgrade tidbit from him second hand, but it is reliable.
