Hello,
I'm a big rallyfan and CMR 4 (ps2) is one of my favourites games at the moment.
I never played Rallisport Challenge, is it comparable with CMR? I'm asking this because the Rallisport Challenge 2 screen amaze me so, that I'm considering a XBOX...
Please share your thoughts. |

Do yourself a favour and get CMR2, it's the best of all the codemasters games, but that's not saying much. The best rallying game is Rally Trophy or Rally Masters. Live for speed does the loose better than anything else out there but it limited to racing, rallycross, and autotesting for now. For $12 dollars it's really well worth it. |

Well RSC1 used the SAME physics as Rally Masters BUT it was dumbed down What`s worse it had the same problem as RM: no use for brakes because the engine was braking too strongly. Besides the brakes got stuck: when you released the brakes they were still working! Only patting the accelerator made them unstuck. This problem killed both games for me...

Looks like nobody is any positive about RSC 1. I hope they change the controls and psychics for the sequel than. Have a look at the RSC 2 trailer via this link:

I like to hear your opinion. |

RSC1 in my opinion is the best rally game on the market, Physics are based around the Refractor 2 engine (Rm refractor1/codename eagle)(bf1942 etc) with features which were not used.
RSC2 will be performed on an enhanced version of the refractor 2 you can see obvious graphics enhancements and physics whilst playing Bf vietnam the core component of this engine.
Long live dice and Racing games.

RSC1 is a dumbed-down version of RM, and none too demanding at that. Any game that can be played well on a joypad or keyboard does not accurately simulate a rally car. This was Microsoft's decision, the market wouldn't buy a total sim. RSC2 will be more of the same unless someone in Microsoft has had a change of heart. |

I have played RSC2's demo and I like it alot but, it's still an arcade racer by sim standards. If you like CMRX, I think you will like RCS2 more. The graphics and sounds are excellent. Car moves too fast in replays to be really convincing but, overall, plays very good. RSC2 is the best Rally Racer to date on a console, except for RBR of course. Have to wait for PC version, though. |

Well IMHO the best rallying game is Rally Championship 2000 (AKA Mobil1) and i play with a keyboard, but not with the cursors but with a separate pair for braking/accel and turning. I mean, i use both hands to drive. And it is pretty good this way. I play every racing game this way (i want to buy a wheel but i don't know if a wingman is a good choice, and my money wouldnt get any better im afraid), and never had problems. So you can't say if you can play it with keyboard, it is bad. I also play GP4 with keyboard, and win (yeah, i use the Minardi cos Alonso was there lol).
BTW yeah i played RM and Colin4 with keyboard, my setup is:
Q-accel
A-brakes
O-left
P-right
SPACE-handbrake
TAB-Gear up
Enter-Gear down
Maybe its hard to get used (especially if playing manual). I have been using the QAOP pattern since the good old Spectrum and Amstrad days...lol
