I don't quite get this, but isn't EA publisher of Nascar Thunder 2004? Wo what the heck is EA doing interviewing their own "man"? EA SPORTS: What are some of the changes and improvements in the A.I. racecars this year? Scott Stutsman: In NASCAR Thunder 2004, we have taken our fantastic racing A.I. cars and given them some personality by integrating Grudges and Alliances. Teammates and Allies will draft with you and not battle you as hard for position, but the really cool element is what we have done to create such great rivalries in the game. If you bump someone out of the way, you can expect the "favor" to be returned with a little retaliation.

To: EA Sports
Big Money didnt get ya the Big Game
I have been racing "on line" nascar simulation for 4 years now and have experienced more
Seamless paint swapping, heart pounding, phenomenal door to door racing in some of the finest
"Road Course" race leagues than anyone could hope for. Theirs a lot of highly skilled racers
"on line" but the truth is the car physics are unparalleled, and the graphics so beautiful it brings
Tears to the eye via my FX5900 Gforce Video card. My CPU rig is plenty fast with all the bells
& whistles which gives it plenty of power to pipe some incredible game play through my high Speed Cable internet connection. However, this hasnt been my experience with EA's Nascar Thunder 2004 race sim.
EA Sports... Sorry, your big money licensing buy out of "all things Nascar" hasn't brought
You even close to being in the same arena as Papyrus' Nascar Racing legacy. You'll be "SMOKED" for many years to come by a game that isn't even being improved, or developed for Future releases anymore. It's a shame that EA Sports has the F..***ng Ba**s to effect the demise of Papyrus' world class sim... and EA Sports can't even duplicate, much less better Papy's game play quality... Sheesh!
EA Sports internet play is still infantile compared. (SUP w/ that?) I race with guys @ 200+
Mph while 2" off their bumper... CLEAN, PREDICTABLE, and SEAMLESS! EA's game,
The cars are jumping from here, over to there, back over here... its a joke. EA Sports, Spend
Some of that big money on some better internet play programming please. Oh, and the car
Settings are not very responsive to adjustments either. Theyre pushin pigs untill you
over adjust enough settings that the car suddenly becomes completely loose and
Uncontrollable.
EA Sports, This is not a prejudicial smear campaign. But if you can't run with the big
Dogs, stay on the porch! To prove my point... I thoroughly enjoy EA Sports F1 1999-2002 championship sim. Superb job guys, and... Internet play is your best to date. I have had many awesome races at Suzuka w/ 6 to 8 racers. But regarding the "Nascar Thunder" series race
"sim?"... EA Sports needs to Step up to the challenge. They have got some mighty big shoes
To fill!

Too bad it's Sierra Vivendi that you should be directing the flack at not EA Sports.Sierra didn't want to pay what NASCAR wanted for licencing rights....EA did.So your beloved NASCAR sim gods sold you out......it didn't have anything to do with "EA Sports having the F..***ng Ba**s to effect the demise of Papyrus" as you so eloquently put it.Your "Papy" decided to go play somewhere else.
Grt over it....
It just amazes me how dense some people are.

It's pretty hard to buy console rights when there are none to be sold. EA snapped up exclusive rights to console, that means NASCAR cannot then sell console rights to Sierra, no matter how much they offered.
Since you accuse Sierra of "selling out", I guess it would be fair to say EA sold out the F1 players, by not choosing to outbid Sony for F1 rights?

No, simply a business decision. Why do you papy boys have to come into Thunder related threads and spout all your anti-thunder nonsense? Not polite, not mature, not reasonable. Thunder fans don't troll your threads. Don't you know what you sound like? You do more harm to an otherwise great sim in NR2003 than you do good with this behavior. Grow up.
This was a dead thread since October. So I guess Jmaxxx just had to start something. Typical troll.

Ah, I now see the double standard logic here. If Sierra doesn't buy rights, they are selling the cutomers out. If EA does the same, it's called a business decision. Must be nice to have standards that change as needed to suit one's convenience.
Sim envy? You certainly are not referring to Thunder on PC as the object of the envy. If this were the Jane's series of flight sims, then we'd be talking. But Thunder? Never.

No double standard. Business decision both ways. I personally play both games and like both (and many others). They all have something to offer.
And, umm, sim envy is a sarcastic take-off on something else.

EA didn't snap anything up.
NASCAR asks "Who wants ink a deal?"Sierra Vivenda, known for having some financial problems in recent years, decides they can't or don't want play in the NASCAR arena any more.....EA does.
And yes,you could say EA sold out the F1 players....or they simply decided that they were likely going to make a lot more money with NASCAR than F1.Probably a good business decision.
What really puzzles me is all the whining from the Papy camp....if NR2003 is the "best ever" and the "greatest thing thing to come along since sliced bread'......why do you guys even care what EA Sports is doing or who's making the next NASCAR game.
You've already got the sim of all sims...go play it.....

OK Guys, Please accept my apology. I went half cocked with incorrect
information I had received through an obviously poor source. I didn't
mean to sound like one of those Tyranical "Papy" camper trolls, lol.
I have no preference for one company over another. Besides, EA puts
out some fantastic games. I absolutely "GO OFF" on F1C daily!
Considering this point... can anyone "OBJECTIVELY" say that Thunder
is even in the same league as NR2003. Multiplayer has provided some
the most incredible door to door racing. You can make a car adjustment &
recognize the smallest change in the handling. Thunder just keeps pushin
like a pig, adjust, still pushin , adjust , pushin... adjust... wooo tooo loose
- spin. I can make many complex setups for 72 diferent tracks between circle tracks & Road Courses. I won the Winston Cup in our "All" RC race league in a 16 race season, 50% length, no aids, with 44 members. I can't figure out how anyone can be giving praise to such an inadequit 4th attempt at a "sim". Man, I bought Thunder, all excited... oh it was good this time .
The advertising was good, got my money. I gave it 6 hardcore hours trying
to be sure I wasn't prejudging too quickly or missing some aspect of the
game that would magically unlock the racing secret, lol. None to be found.
Believe me, seat time was not the answer. The minute EA Sports comes out
with a nascar "sim" thats any good, I'll be the first at the store to buy it.
Again guys, Sorry if I stunk up your thread. I have plenty to learn about
the eddicut in these forums & stuff.
Thank You
