I was impressed with the Total Immersion Racing demo, and aside from the console menu screens, the physics model seems to have a lot of potential, so I went ahead and bought the full version.
Using all the info I could gather from others who have been modifying and tweaking TIR, I have developed an all-in-one patch for Total Immersion Racing that should do for TIR what the Advanced Physics Patch" did for SCGT -- I've solved the brake lockup problem, Razorworks has clued us in on how to make the AI behave a bit more realistically, and the modifications that I'm using for the the grip levels and the tyre sounds completely transform the game. If you're looking for something new with a rewarding physics model, then TIR with my advanced patch just might be the ticket.
You can find the Total Immersion Racing Advanced Physics Patch at my TIR Patch site, compliments of Blackhole Motorsports:
https://irlheat.bhmotorsports.com/TIR/
Note that I have developed a special version of the Advanced Physics Patch specifically for the demo version as well. That will enable people who haven't purchased the full version of TIR to sample the full goodness of TIR in advance. The demo only features a one-lap race, though, and since TIR also models tyre and brake temps (it feels a lot like a Papy or MGI sim in this respect), you really need to put in a couple of laps to warm the tyres up before the physics model truly "comes alive." The demo patch will enable you to see how good the full version feels when using the Advanced Physics Patch.
The patches for the full version and the demo version are both small downloads -- about 435kB each.
Also, note that my modifications are intended to work for people who use DRIVING WHEELS, not gamepads.
Make sure you download the correct patch depending on whether you're using the demo or the full version of the game. Check the readme file for a list of all the files that are affected by this patch.
FYI, if you haven't tried the demo yet, be advised that the TIR demo is not a "de-tuned" example of the full version of the game. My patches for the demo and the full version are identical, in fact -- only the install path and the installer screen logo/name have changed, but I thought I'd provide something specifically for the demo to allow the general public to sample all the goodness that Total Immersion Racing has to offer.
Enjoy!
