How can I change the amount of gears in a car?For example 6 gear to 5 gear?

-Search for the common.lsp file in your RBR/Physics/carname folder (where carname obviously means the car you are interested to edit);

-Browse to the NumberOfGears line and change the value as you want; usually you find 8 - that means 6 gears - so change to 7 if you want to have 5 gears for the car.

It worked ok.I also managed to change the drop gear from medium to long.Drop gear id was 11.I changed it to 12.I don't know if I did it just right.Could it be even a bigger number?

I have one more question related to this topic.This might be kind of stupid to ask but can there be two same cars in the game without messing it up somehow?For example Focus '06 x 2?

Ok.That's cool.I tried it but then it asks me if I want to overwrite the other car that's already in there?What must I do?Rename it?

@ Hesus:

Q1: yes, that's right, DropGearId 11 means medium, 12 long (and obviously 10 means short gears), but I don't know if higher values are possible - never thought to try, really - but you can give a try if you want; I suppose however that only 3 ratios are possible, due to RBR program code, so I think that is better to edit the final drive ratio, the short, medium, long ratios or even every single gear ratio if different gearbox setups are needed.

Q2: Again, never tried to do it, but as q-tek wrote, I think yes, it's possible. So for example you can install two or more of the same car model but different skin, in order to have more than one team using the same car, as in real life.

If you mean, i.e., that you have already a 207_s2000 installed in your RBR/Cars folder but want to have the same car repeated, you have to edit the files a bit: simply overwrite the existing files don't change anything, of course.

@Hesus:

if you remember to backup the files/folders that need to be overwritten you can easily restore them if something go wrong, so no fear about messing your RBR install.

Renaming the car's folder in Cars and put physics in a different slot is right, but remember also to edit the correct slot in Cars.ini file, i.e.:

[Car07]
FileName = "Cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\focus06.sgc"
IniFile = "Cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\focus06.ini"
ShaderFile = "Cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\focus06_shaders.ini"
ShaderSettings = "Cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\focus06_shader_settings"
TexturePath = "Cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\Textures\"

Obviously you can replace any other car, [Car07] it's only for reference.

Then remember to edit the focus06_shaders.ini file in your new Ford_Focus 2007 folder. Open this file and search this lines:

[TSDefault]
focus_wrc06_external.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_external.dds
focus_wrc06_parts.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_parts.dds
focus_wrc06_external_dynamic.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_external_dynamic.dds
focus_wrc06_external_dynamic_mud.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_external_dynamic_mud.dds
focus_wrc06_external_mud.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_external_mud.dds
focus_wrc06_external_scrape.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_external_scrape.dds
focus_wrc06_external_transparent.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_external_transparent.dds
focus_wrc06_internal.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_internal.dds
focus_wrc06_internal_kwindscreen.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_internal_kwindscreen.dds
focus_wrc06_internal_scrape.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_internal_scrape.dds
focus_wrc06_internal_transparent.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_internal_transparent.dds
focus_wrc06_extra_lights.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2006\textures\focus_wrc06_extra_lights.dds

Change to this:

[TSDefault]
focus_wrc06_external.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_external.dds
focus_wrc06_parts.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_parts.dds
focus_wrc06_external_dynamic.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_external_dynamic.dds
focus_wrc06_external_dynamic_mud.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_external_dynamic_mud.dds
focus_wrc06_external_mud.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_external_mud.dds
focus_wrc06_external_scrape.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_external_scrape.dds
focus_wrc06_external_transparent.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_external_transparent.dds
focus_wrc06_internal.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_internal.dds
focus_wrc06_internal_kwindscreen.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_internal_kwindscreen.dds
focus_wrc06_internal_scrape.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_internal_scrape.dds
focus_wrc06_internal_transparent.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_internal_transparent.dds
focus_wrc06_extra_lights.dds = cars\FORD_FOCUS_2007\textures\focus_wrc06_extra_lights.dds

So now you have the correct paths for textures, otherwise you only see a white model in game with no textures applied, I suppose.

Now your second Focus 06 car should work, but since I've never tried this make me now if all it's ok.

I changed everything else but shaders.ini file and it seemed to work.But I couldn't put 2007 skin on the other car so maybe those will help with that.And then it's ok...

Changing cars.ini and shaders.ini helped.The new skin shows now and seems to work just fine.Thank you for helping!

The only thing left is car menu pic.I used Maxipes vers. 1.6 because for some reason it was too hard for me to change car menu pic with dattool myself.Tried a few times but never got it right?!It certainly would be cooler to have Grönholm Focus 07 like it should be..

I'm happy to know that finally you have reached your goal.

But I have not understood exactly what's your problem with dattool (and no idea about Maxipes is, sorry for my ignorance).
If you have a new car pic (Grönholm Focus 07 if I understand) and want to replace the previous one, simply drag and drop your RBR/Textures/splash.dat file (make a backup copy before) over dattool.exe, so a new splash folder will be create. Browse into it (there are many subfolders), then replace your car_#_1024.dds file. Now drag and drop the splash folder over dattool.exe, so a new splash.dat file will be create.

I hope that this could help you; otherwise feel free to renew your question.

Happy to see that you have sorted it.

About Maxipes, only now I've seen his beautiful car menu pictures in RBR download section, so I've to apologize with him if I've missed them previously.

Regards, Tato
