Hi.

I'm having a problem with RBR running under Vista x64 SP1. It runs like shit (sorry). Stutters, sounds are weird, generally unplayable, even on 640x480 16 bit with everything set to low.

PC specs:
Intel E8400 @ 3.6GHz processor
ATi 4870X2 videocard
4GB RAM

On XP, it runs perfectly (same PC). Other games run fine under Vista. I had the same problems with my old machine (AMD 3500, nVidia 7800GTX). The only thing that is the same is the OS (Vista x64 SP1). Ofcourse I installed Vista after upgrading my PC after a format, so it can't be old drivers or something.

Has anyone gotten RBR to run smoothly under Vista 64-bit and if yes, how dod you do it? Thanks.

Runs fine on my 32 bit Vista! Wink Although it does sometimes drop a few frames when the tarmac shines in the sun light, which never happened on my XP laptop. Confused

Have you installed the 1.02 patch?

Might also be worth checking for updated drivers?

Try downloading the DirectX 9 web setup from the Microsoft website and running that, apparently DirectX 10 in Vista is not completely compatible and DirectX 9 files that some games require are not installed.

Have you tried some of the compatibility settings in the shortcut properties? Try running it in Windows XP compatibility mode, and you could also try the disable visual themes and disable desktop composition.

Other than that, I don't know. You can try Googling for game problems in Vista x64, or issues associated with your hardware? Other than that, the only option maybe a dual boot with XP...

Hi Jim,

thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, I already tried all of them, to no avail. I guess dualboot is the only (cumbersome) way.

Thanks.
