Hello all. I am currently in search of great driving games for PC and just found out this great website.
I saw the game Mobil 1 RC 2000 by Magnetic Fields and I tried it, as I loved the previous rally game from Magnetic Fields (NQ Rac Rally). But I have problems with the game, the game runs fine at the beggining but it gets more and more slow as time passes, the frame rate lowers and lowers till the game becomes unplayable.... But this happens with the exterior cameras! The in-car cameras work fine! Also the sound is out of sync everytime and it's pretty annoying.
The machine power is definitely not the problem here.......I have this machine right now:
- Asus M2N-E SLI Motherboard
- AMD 64 X2 5600+
- 2GB DDR2 667 RAM
- NVidia XFX 8600GT XXX Fatality 256MB GDDR3
- HDD 500GB SATA 2 7200RPM
Please help with this, I love the game and I would like to play it normally. If anyone know anything to try, let me now please
Thanks |

Strange thing, sometimes on modern PC the game have too fps and then crash (on my PC too, but it's 2 years old now, so I don't have such hardware like you).
Sadly, often when a program it's too old have problems on newer hardware; I don't know exactly in this case, but I suspect that the dual core CPU is causing your problem, because it happens with some programs.
P.S.: sorry for my bad english. |

Well, thanks for the reply. But I'm leaving the attempts to make the game work correctly, beacuse I have tried EVERYTHING. I have tried the compatibility program from Microsoft (qfixapp), the utility to configure the "ral.cfg" file....everything I tried does not work, sadly, since I miss a great game like this one.
I would play it in Windows 98 with Microsoft Virtual PC, but the virtual PC has a limitation in the graphics card, a S3 Trio with only 4MB of memory, so the game cannot be started as it needs 8MB of VRAM. |

Yes, it's a pity, because it's a beautiful rally game (I played it a lot in 2001), with some unique features, like the very long and challenging stages, taken from the real ones. But it has many limitations too, especially in sounds and - most important for me - in physics; so if you want a rally simulation, and not only a rally game, I suggest to try Richard Burns Rally. |
