I only recently (well today) installed the 1.1 patch after having the game now for a few weeks. Before I installed it I had found a NOCD fix so I didn't mess up my DVD. It worked fine. After I installed the 1.1 patch the NOCD didn't work (Gave me an error message when I ran the install program). I was asked to place the DVD in. Anyway, I managed to join an online race with absolute ease but sucked in the race. Laughing

My question is.... --- Can I not use the NOCD with the patch and not use it online? Is there another NOCD version that works with the patch?

Just a general note.

After I first installed GTR2 I drove on Rookie level with only my gear change manually on. It has been a long time since I raced this style of racing on tracks. I am familiar with 90% of the tracks so know the basic layout as I used to race F1 like crazy on the highest difficulty level (but years ago). So basically I am back to being a rookie. Anyway I tried to drive only in Simulator mode now but am finding it difficult with the Joystick. I have no problems accelerating, but when it comes to braking from high speeds using a mixture of brakes and shifting down in gears I still get all out of shape and the car goes into a wild spin. I realize I need to practice.. practice... and more practice.
Just trying to get descent speeds is hard. Not that I expected it to be easy. I have no knowledge of car setups so in that department I am stuffed - LOL Laughing

The only car I seem to not have as much problems with on the track is the BMW M3 GTR. It brakes nicely and does not get out of shape. The Ferrari, which I love, gets horribly out of shape when under braking. When I was online I used the BMW and found myself in a race with 19 other drivers that had the Ferrari, Lamborghini etc. The GT cars, so obviously even if I had a decent lap time I was way off the pace, which is normal.

Any help on these issues is most welcomed.
Thanks in advance
Greg M.

just a note, no-CD hacks and talk on the subject aren't exactly taken lightly here because it's a code violation of the original EXE. (i think)

Just passing that along. Best thing to do is run the original EXE. that way you can avoid any hacking issues that may pop up in the future. David doesn't really like talk about no-cd cracks here, so i must respect that. i doubt anything will happen, but just letting you know this unwritten rule.

I totally understand. My mouth is sealed Razz

Just a question: What do the majority of racing simmers use for racing? For the PC do you use keyboard, Joystick or steering wheel to drive your sim? (I am speaking more on GTR2 in particular)

Another question: Are there any online racing organizations that have a variaty of skill levels. Is there somewhere where you can race online for a racing team say at Rookie level and then once Rookie level is mastered to move up in skill level?

I can answer the first question. Generally you can use any controller that you like, keyboard or joystick being less popular. However, for a good smooth performance the sterring wheel with pedals is the only way to go. Even with a 'rumble pad' hand controller (like the ones you get with a playstation) you still can't get the smooth steering input as well as good throttle and brake control, you ask for a little throttle and get all there is to have!

I use a Logitech MOMO, and will be upgrading sometime in the next couple months to the G25 which is a much better product. As I said, you can use any controller you like, but the wheel/pedal rigs are what most of the better drivers use. I cannot recall anybody I know of that turns respectable laps with a joystick or keyboard control, I can however recall many guys who can do magic in the car that use either bought or built racing wheels (A commonality right now is folks buying a decent quality wheel and then reworking/rebuilding it to make it more user friendly. I am in the process of reverse designing the shifter knob on my MOMO to make it fit my hand better, as the stocker was obviously designed for someone with a hand the size for a catchers mitt!)

Hope this helps.
