[RPM] RACE: THE WTCC TOURNAMENT OUTLINES & RULES

Introduction
In the first half of 2007 the RPM-Team will organise a tournament for the game RACE: The WTCC Game. The tournament will be driven in the cars of the 2006 championship of the FIA WTCC class and will include all 10 tracks in the game in the same order as the FIA WTCC Championship. When both sign up processes have finished the 50 chosen drivers will be invited to a test day that determines in which group they will race in the first weekend. Two weeks later the first race weekend of the tournament will start and then every two weeks there will be a new tournament race weekend. After the 10th weekend the winner of the tournament will be known.

Now follows a detailed description of all tournament aspects.

Sign ups
You can only enter the tournament when you have signed up for it. People that have not signed up, will no be welcome. After you have signed up in the WTCC Sign Up topic on the RPM-Forum you will be asked to sign up again. This time you will have to fill in a form and send it to us. This is for us to make sure that you will be there and to know who we are dealing with. If you sign up for the tournament you are expected to know and respect the full content and extent of the tournament outlines and rules as posted here. If we (RPM-Race Direction) think or notice you violating the rules, we hold ourselves the right to warn, punish or exclude you from the tournament. After the sing up process we will post a list of the drivers that will participate in the tournament. Of course, members of the RPM-Team are privileged when it comes to tournament participation. We will, however, not kick non-RPM-members from the tournament when we have accepted them as one of the 50 to make place for an RPM-Member. When the sign-ups have closed no one can enter the tournament unless people leave or get excluded. The lay-out and requirements of the sign up form will be posted later.

Tournament Test Day and Race Weekends
The 2007 RPM RACE: WTCC TOURNAMENT will consist of a Test Day and 10 Race Weekends.
The Test Day: This test day is important for two reasons.
1) It will allow us to test the servers we race in.
2) It will give you a chance to qualify yourself in the top group for the first race weekend.
We will play in two servers of 25 players each. You will be assigned to one of the servers in which you are expected to show up. You are not allowed to hop into the other server, because other player won’t be able to join then.
In that test session you will have 30 minutes to drive hotlaps (30 minutes is the time that the practise session will be open, so be there in time!). When the sessions are over we will mix the results of both sessions. The fastest 25 drivers will be racing in the Top Group in the first race weekend and the slowest 25 will be racing in the Lower Group . People that are absent during the Test Day will automatically end up in the lower group (but only if they have given us notice of their absence! People that have not given notice will lose the spot in the tournament to other people). More information about date, time and track can be found in the WTCC Tournament section of the RPM-Forum.

A Race Weekend: We have 10 race weekends during the WTCC Tournament season. In the tournament schedule you can read about the tracks, number of laps and starting time of each weekend. A weekend will look like this:
1) 10-Minute practise session.
2) 15-Minute qualification session.
3) Race 1.
4) Race 2.
The practise session starts at the time that can be read in the schedule, after that the sessions follow up without a pause: when practise is over, qualification starts and so on… This automatically means that you have a 10-minute timeframe to enter the server before qualification and a 25-minute timeframe to enter before the race. If the race has started you cannot join anymore. If you miss race 1, you will also miss race 2.
We will have two servers to use for the tournament. One server will be designated for the Top Group and one will be designated for the Lower Group. If you are in the Lower Group you can and may not enter the server of the Top Group and vice versa. .

Times are GMT (Greenwich, England), most European countries are CET, which is GMT+1.

Points, Groups, Promotion and Relegation:
In each race weekend there is the competition of the Top Group and the Lower Group. The Top Group will battle for the positions 1 – 25, the Lower Group for the positions 26 – 50.
Points & Positions: In each single race the drivers that finish that race receive points. There are 1500 points per race for the winner and 50 points for the #50. People who DNF will not receive points, though they will claim the position they are in when the race finishes. Note that the winner of the Lower Group is the #26 of that race even if some people in the Top Group DNF.

Promotion & Relegation: After each race weekend the gathered points of that race weekend are accumulated and according to that results the top 5 of the Lower Group will be promoted to the Top Group and the last 5 of the Top Group will be relegated to the Lower Group for the next race weekend. People who DNF twice in a weekend in the Top Group will end up on the bottom of the results for that group, they will automatically relegate to the Lower Group. If more than 5 player DNF twice in a weekend than they will all be relegated and an equal amount of drivers from the Lower Group will then be promoted. So if 7 people DNF twice in the Top Group, then they will be relegated to the Lower Group and the top 7 from the Lower Group will be promoted to the Top Group for the next race weekend.

At the end of the season the points from all the races are accumulated and a winner is announced. But nor before the worst weekend result of every player is being redeemed, which of course, has consequences for the tournament standings.

Rules
These outlines and rules are made by the RPM-Race Direction in cooperation with the Team Owner. They will judge and act according to what is written down here. If a certain situation goes beyond these outlines and rules then the Race Direction rules supreme, which means that their decisions are final and to be followed by those who they are dealing with. Violating the rules as written down here or as spoken by the Race Direction will be taken serious. Such actions may cause the excluding of players from the tournament.

We expect player to behave properly both in races as in chat-sessions and on the forum. We don’t want any fights! If you have a quarrel with another player over this tournament you will take it to a Race Director. Fights without our involvement may end in a periodical or permanent exclusion from the tournament.

On the track we use certain parts of the 2006 FIA WTCC Regulations . (CLICK: FIA WORLD TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP RULES ) We expect all drivers to know and respect the following articles of those regulations:
39, 40 (minus practise results), 42, 43A, 88, 89, 90, 101, 106, 107A G H I, 113, 115, 120, 121 (by pressing the Esc-key), 124, 149, 160D, 161. Any reference to FIA is to be interpreted as RPM Race Direction.
Furthermore: Some of these rules are already being covered by RACE: The WTCC Game, they do not require your responsibility to take care of situations. Situations that do require your responsibility are to be dealt with in a responsible way. Irresponsible actions are interpreted as a violation of the rules. The rules of the game itself and the penalties given by it are to be respected and reacted to accordingly. There can be no discussion about these game-rules.
Furthermore: RPM has some rules of its own, that are not always explicitly carried out in the FIA regulations. These rules are simple and based on maintenance of good gameplay:
1) No ramming: There will be no hazardous attacks on each other’s cars. Mind however that close racing comes with touches and possible spin-offs. Soft contact between cars in a non-hazardous way is allowed.
2) No cutting or grasshopping: No one is allowed to skip certain parts of the track to achieve a faster laptime or to achieve the overtaking of an opponent. If a driver is forced to leave the track than he is expected to return on it as soon as possible. Most of this rule is being taken care of by the game.
If the rules are violated there will be an investigation. As long as the investigation runs, the players that are under investigation cannot participate in the race weekend, unless the Race Directors decide otherwise.

Before every race weekend there will be a topic open where people can report their absence. It is important that you report your absence to us, so we will know how many people show up. If you do not show up in a race weekend without giving us notice, you risk being excluded from the tournament and have your spot being taken by someone else. People who have reported their absence are still welcome in the tournament. They will, however, not be given any points for that race (they DNF) and relegate to the Lower Group for the next weekend (if they were in the Top Group). Again: It is very important to report your absence!

We hope you have received enough information about the tournament by these outlines and rules and that you will respect the rules as have been written here.

Good Luck in the Tournament,

The Race Direction:
