Indianapolis (October 14, 2005) - The Champ Car World Series today announced a long-term partnership with SE GAMES and Jester Interactive Publishing to develop exclusively licensed video games and related merchandise to series fans and gamers worldwide for Champ Car and its support series brands.
The multi-year agreement was announced today, leading up to the Lexmark Indy 300, Round 12 of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, which runs October 21-23 along the Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise, Australia. The Champ Car-themed games are slated to be developed for use across a number of personal gaming platforms with further game release details to be announced.
"Champ Car is very pleased to announce this strategic partnership," said Champ Car President Steve Johnson. "Champ Car is all about entertainment and video games afford us the ability to extend the range of entertainment offerings to our fans. This is another important step as we continue to build a solid future for the Champ Car World Series."

Too bad...they could have paid one of the established sim companies to do a good job and ended up with an engaging product that would attract serious new fans. Instead, we'll likely end up with more arcade crap that will have a Champcar logo and a few sponsor ads pasted on it, but that will bear about as much relationship with the series as the Sony F1 crap does to that series. |

Didn't they like announce this game two years ago? And what was their sum total of output in two years? Another announcement of them making a CART game?

The game was never formally announced. Everything said prior to this was rumor, possibly caused by the fact that they've been working on it.
Also - YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Glad my joke about a "kart sim" before wasn't in vain. |

CART SIM!
I mean, Champ Car Series Powered By Ford Sim!
GPL, NH, NR, GTR, CCSPBF,...
Announced but they have been working on it for a long time, which is good IMO. Take time, make something good, that's what I say. This license deserves it.
Here's hoping. Glad its real, and finally official.
ps
Most serious developers seem to be working on open-ended, non-licensed sims anymore. Unless you want EA to take a stab at it- I'd rather take a chance with SE. Their aim as stated on site seemed serious. We'll see. |

I'm not a huge ISI fan, but I find it promising that S-E have them listed as a partner on their website. I'd have to imagine the PC version will be using some version of the motor engine. |

On the plus side, there's only one chassis, engine and tire they have to model. Should make template making real easy.
