I've got the problem with F1 2002 and mods that some people had with the older nvidia drivers. The game brings up the 3dconfig window every time and then loads F1 2002 instead of the mod.
I've got an ATI radeon 9800 pro, with drivers released about 2 months ago.
Is there a way to get F1 2002 to ignore the 3dconfig program?
Thanks in advance. |

I don't think you can ignore the 3D config, but getting older drivers might help. (Something like Cat 3.6).

The same problem has now surfaced with the Prototype C mod on F1C as well. Any mod that has it's own 3dconfig program does'nt do it.
I hate installing older drivers to get something working, besides, many of the older drivers didn't work on my machine. Where does F1c, or rather, the 3d config go to confirm the driver version? is it in the registry?
I got the turbo mod to work by backing up the config.ini file and pasting the contents of the TURBOconfig.ini into it. But it still runs 3dconfig and asks for the settings again every time, which is really pissing me off.
Any ideas, anyone? |

Man, I wish I can advise, but when I never had the problem, it's hard to suggest. If you have this problem in general, with other mods, it has to be related to drivers, the order of installation, etc.
For example, I can't install RH mods on F1C that has ETCC installed. I just can't. Same goes for PTC - it won't work properly if I have RH mods installed first. It might be JUST me, I don't know, but when I fully reinstalled F1C, and on a clean version installed PTC - it worked fine.

Thanks for your advice, waiting for a response from the RSC forum.
While I'm here, here's a joke.
My friends gave me a sweater for my birthday recently.
I'd have perfered a screamer or a moaner, but a sweater is pretty good. |

here's an easy fix, go to your main config file, and look for "video guide" copy that line, and paste it over the same line in the config file for whatever mod you want to use, problem solved !!!! works the same in F1C |

Yes copy all the lines from CPU rating down to VBStrategy included, from the orginal config.ini file (the default one of F1C) to your other xxxxxconfig.ini files. This usually works.
The more 'normal' way to do this is to manually launch the 3Dconfig.exe for each new mod (it might have slightly different names depending on the mods) |

a lot of the mods for F1 2002 didn't have their own 3D Config , which is why he was having this problem, so when switching drivers it will do what he said, fortunately most of the mods for F1C have their own 3D Config |

Yes you're right. So in the case of the F1 2K2 mods, after changing the drivers, the best is to launch the default game so the 3D config runs, then copy the edited lines I mentioned from the config.ini to the other mods' config.ini file. |
