At Gateway International Raceway's Sears Craftsman Nationals, 34 year old NHRA Top Fuel Driver Darrel Russel passed away from a violent tire blow out during first round eliminations. It happened just before the quarter mile mark, which took out the rear wing and the car split upon hitting the wall. He was then medivaced to a local hospital where he later passed on. His family and friends have my condolences.

Yeah i saw that earlier...sad news indeed the russel family has my condolences as well.

Yeah, my dads friend was down by the finish when it happened... I live about a half hour away from Gateway and I go there all the time bc my dad and brothers bracket race there.
