Racing game for pc, with all kind of cars and tracks
Im looking to make a racing mod for pc, which is based on gotham 2 ,where realism is important.
It's goignt o be new, and because it's such a cool game , i thought why not make one.
This is ofcourse not easy and takes some time.
If anyone is interested to help me with that pm,or visit the forum:
https://s3.invisionfree.com/racingmodification
and please register for free there.
So we would need -moddelers (what i can do myself)
-skinning, people that can work good with textures etc.
-programmers, to programm something to change a game.
You need to have some moddeling -, skinning- or coding experience.
There is one important note: I don't want to make it like you have to work on it at least 2 hours a day, we do this for free.
So only work on it when you have time, that is one important thing for me, that is stays cool to make this mod.
And ofcourse that if you have homework or work, you will not get banned if you cannot work at that moment. So i wish that if you want to join, you could put as much time as you have in the mod.
Ofcourse it's important to choose a reliable and good game-egine that could support pretty high models.
So if you want to join mail me and we can choose an engine, the choose of it is important for coders that
they know where to code in.
So if you can do something mentioned above, mail me!
Car list of cool cars, if you made any of these models is even greater if we can use it for the mod.
(they do not all have to come ingame, but the for sure the nicest cars)

The by far easiest, and probably the one with which you get the best result, game to use as a base for this is F1C.
There are lots mods in the working for F1C, and most of thoose working on them hang out here:
https://forum.rscnet.org/forumdisplay.php?f=478
I wish you good luck, i hope you pull this off! But it will be a marathon i guarantee you! If you're only a couple of people working on it "now and then",be prepared that it will take several years before you have anything worth while!
But, my guess is that once everyone starts seeing progress they will devote more and more time into it. |

One question, could the f1 engine support pretty high polygon cars?
Or at least that you can crop them ingame?

I don't know much about the car-modelling part in F1C, someone else have to answer that one.
I've done some work on the physics, and "put my nose" in most of the files in F1C. I know my way around fairly well, but i'm far from an experienced modder.
I have tried to start learning some 3D-modelling, but never got very far. It would be fun to know more about it, but i guess it's all down to time.
There's so many things i want to do, and so little time. LOL. |

F1 challange can support a higher polygon car . however the limting factor is user computer power. For example an excellent few cars were done for 1994, but even just 6 of these on the track at once caused problems. The secret of F1C (and the rest) is lower detail models as the cars go further away. like the reducing MIP textures that accompany them.
As for what you want from a game. F1 challange will allow you to get straight into the physical modeling and making of cars safe in the knowledge that they are easy (comparitivly) to get into the gaming engine once those tricky models are built. The game has happily supported F1, Group C, Rally, Touring cars, JGTC, GT, LMP900's, american muscle cars..etc etc etc
iMy advice is to go into the F1 challange mod section on this site and follow the links to a number of modding teams home pages. this will show you if F! chall is going to deliver the core game that you require.
as for 3D modeling itself.... i know that in the beginning learning a 3D package can be very difficult. However stick with it because the core principles of one usually transfer to the rest.
