FIM Speedway Grand Prix 3 Review
[22-09-2008 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
If I know one thing, it is European stadium dirt bike racing. Just kidding. Actually, I saw this on Gamer’s Gate and said, “huh, that looks different.” So here we are, a review of FIM Speedway Grand Prix 3. I am a fan of quality racing simulations and it's always good to try something new (like Brussels sprouts). Plus, the developer is responsible for Xpand Rally, which was a good game. Off to the races!

Speedway Grand Prix Review at GE

You'd expect gameplay in a racing game to be fast paced, exciting, and a lot of fun, this coming from someone who was drawn into the world of PC gaming from the thrill of racing games. FIM Speedway Grand Prix is a horrible showing, static and pathetic character movements, horribly frustrating tendencies, and something that really makes the genre look like a joke. For shame Big City Games, for releasing a title so poor in one of its core departments, that it should have been thrown aside and scrapped a long time ago.

Speedway Grand Prix Review at GCM
[08-06-2003 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
The initial excitement for this game waned quickly due to the fact that every race was repetition in action, four laps in a certain number of heats all on a smooth circular lane track. Another factor for such a low value score is the game's difficulty. It took me quite a few tries to successfully finish a heat, let alone a race. The fact you can get disqualified so easily also makes this game a bit frustrating.

It slipped through the cracks at the time, but Polish developer Techland silently released an updated demo of their speedway motor racing simulation FIM Speedway Grand Prix late last year. Still in Polish, there are no details on the changes in this version 1.1 demo, but as before it contains the Cardiff Millennium Stadium track.

Speedway Grand Prix Review
[08-02-2003 | JZ | Comments (0) ]
From the start, SGP graphics are excellent. They have captured the riders, tracks and atmosphere of the venues brilliantly. The sounds are accurate and the actions of the starter are true to life as you come up to the tapes to start your first race. The engine sounds slowly rise as each rider readies for the start. This is an area in real life where you have an opportunity to psyche out the other riders by throwing their timing out. The engine revs rise to a steady 11,000 rpm as you get ready to drop the clutch when the tapes fly up... Tony Richardson, who reviewed the game, raced speedway bikes in Australia, U.K. & USA in the early 1970's. I am sure you are interested what more he has to say about it.

Since its release in mid December, Speedway Grand Prix has been completely sold out. "Of course, we realized further replication would be needed - says Karina Puchaa, the Sales Manager - however, we didn't expect it would happen so soon." Techland admits that the sales went far beyond the company's expectations. At the moment the FIM Speedway Grand Prix posters are being printed in A2 format. Now all of those who love fierce rivalry will have an opportunity to buy the official FIM Speedway Grand Prix game with the poster enclosed in it.
