New features: Initial FPS displaying can be controlled in racer.ini:stats.fps; Console enabling/disabling through racer.ini:console.enableM; Console UDP output support (console.host/port); Multiview support (use multiple computer for panorama views); Mirror now really mirrors horizontally (through mirror texture); Texture quality can be controlled through extra settings in gfx.ini (incredibly useful on Swiss Stroll) ...

The downside is that users will have to assemble the cars they want in the game on their own, one at a time, and install them in the game. While it's not hard, it does set Racer apart from the typical "content comes with the game" model that the majority of gamers expect. Also, since all cars are developed by users, there is vast difference in quality and realism.

Fixes: Autoshift doesn't shift out of reverse/neutral anymore; Better Join/Host multiplayer handling. On Mac, you'll have to use; racer.ini's multiplayer.server_remote to specify a remote server; Host/Join now actually works at once. Try it on a LAN first though; Better collision response (some ERP changes in debug.ini); Improved keyboard.ini (but totally unrecommended)
Features: Improved multiplayer prediction code; cars move smoother; Multiplayer smoke; Multiplayer wheel heights; wheels don't sink in track.

Ruud van Gaal released a new patch for his Racer project.
Fixes: When turning the car at a bit of speed, the car won't continue to drive indefinitely any longer. A '-' sign was the culprit; Less wheel roll scrub (this might have a little impact); No slowdown on Brands / degenerate splines are detected and skipped

Next 7 days you have a chance to participate in an interview with Ruud van Gaal, the developer of Racer. Racer is a free car simulation project, using real car physics to get a realistic feeling. Cars, tracks, scenes and such can be created with relative simplicity in mind (compared to other driving simulations). Editors and support programs are also available to get a very flexible and expandable simulator. It uses OpenGL for rendering. Racer is a free car simulation project, using real car physics to get a realistic feeling. Cars, tracks, scenes and such can be created with relative simplicity in mind (compared to other driving simulations). The 3D and other file formats are, or should be, documented. Editors and support programs are also available to get a very flexible and expandable simulator. It uses OpenGL for rendering. It attempts to do well at the physics section, trying to create life-like cars to emphasize car control and doesn't cut back on realism in the interest of fun.
