Still a winner eight years later
Delphine Arts International went bankrupt in July 2004, so they are now only a memory from the simpler days of computing. And this is their crowning achievment. Moto Racer is quite possibly the best motorcycle racing game ever made. It may have been made in 1997, but great designs last. The game features a variety of differently abled bikes (both superbikes and motocross) and three modes (Practice, Single Race, and Championship) with 8 different tracks. Catch: Only 4 tracks are available at first. Placing in the top three of each track in Championship mode unlocks the Easter eggs. Also unlockable are Reverse mode and the amusing Pocket Mode (i.e. pocket-sized bikes with full-size riders). The graphics do look a little dated; however, you won't have much time to enjoy the view. The game gives you an unrivaled feeling of exhilarating speed, especially when barreling down the Red City freeway or the Speed Bay bridge. Difficulty is a nice mix; hard enough to keep you addicted, but easy enough to stay within reach (not to say you won't lose sleep.) Moto Racer is a beautiful piece of work, and though it may have no future, it truly has a glittering past.
