Graphics Tips

A few people have been having problems with glitches etc on there graphics card.

Firstly, check the readme.txt it has all the information in there. The main thing u need to do is edit the card.txt in your main gp3 directory on your hard drive. Here is an example I have set up for the geforce 2 (there is one or 2 other tweaks for rain problems and voodoo2 problems in the readme.txt on the cdrom).

[general]

[NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS]
bilinear=1
liverynumbers=0
detailmap=1
alticons=0
alphawithck=1

Frame rates can be very bad at the start of a race. I can get nearly 300% processor occupency at the start of a race.(this is with a P700 and 256mb geforce 2) A good idea if u are using the virtual cockpit is to make sure it defaults to 100% (I used to use at least 112%) as the more cockpit u have showing the more of a hit u get). Also tweak the fps the lower it is the less hit in performance. Taking stuff off the mirrors doesnt make too much of a hit so I would leave it in general as after the start of the race the game really speeds up (around 65% occupency on a 1024 resolution).

I hope this helps some of you.

I would like Microprose to iron out some quirky bugs. The main one being the lack of Blue flags and when u sometimes do replays (well quite a lot actually) the computer takes over your car switches to real time and goes ape with it lol! (but it looks like Ive fixed that one now.

Right, if like me u got flickering with the cockpit and trees etc and u are using a Nividia chip (geforce 1 and 2 TNT2 ultra etc) then I have found a solution.

Firstly uninstall your drivers and download the latest 6.18 driver from www.reactorcritical.com (detonator drivers). Then install this to your machine.

After u have done this download the 5.32a driver from creative. This is at https://www.americas.creative.com/graphics/fasttrax/

It is their easier way of auto downloading. Dont worry if your card isnt a creative one as they are all generic.

After u have downloaded it doubleclick on it. (it looks like a red square). It will automatically update your machine (so u dont have to touch anything in the system).

Then restart your computer.

If u want to revert back to you old driver after using this for a while just copy over it (you dont have to uninstall fastrax or other driver when u put fastrax on or off as it does it itself).

If you need to increase your refresh rate go into your properties (right click on desktop) choose settings, advanced and then adapter. U will be able to change your referesh rates from there.

I had the problem and still do with Nividias drivers (even including the latest 5.33 and 6.18) what makes the screen flicker even with the cards.txt lines added. But the fastrax ones get rid of it completely. Must be something to do with their extra coding.

On another note download Direct x 8 beta. Makes a HUGE difference to frame rates, especially the start of a race.

I forgot if u dont have the Creative card it dont like it and cant find the old creative drivers (fastrax).

So what u have to do instead of the 6.18 drivers is go to this post www.creative.com/support and download the tntaw9x.exe (000713) its version 5.30.

Its at the asia site for Annilitor Pro (downloadhttps://ftp.ctlsg.creaf.com/files/creative/drivers/3db/tntaw9x.exe).

You might also have to download the BC403.exe Blaster control 4.03 as well. Once u have done this install them and then put the fastrax driver over the top of it.

It should be able to find it fine now.

Take care and keep racing .
